The music is fine, but the atmosphere is terrible. The character design, voicework, dialog, and story are borderline insufferable. The battle system is watered down and the world is almost completely linear with few sidequests. It's just not a Final Fantasy game.[QUOTE="LustForSoul"]All they have to do is make a big world with shallow quests and shallow combat mechanics. Maybe he meant to beat Skyrim sales.Crossel777Unfortunately Skyrim sold around 7 million, which FFXIII-3 doesn't really stand a ghost of a chance of beating. GG FF.

I hate Final Fantasy so I just assumed this was for the next gen version. Well, if that's the case then there's no way they can build a better rpg than Bethesda working with the same hardware on skill and talent alone.Lightning Returns just looks like another rush job like FFXIII-2, they're probably still recycling all the content they cut out the first FFXIII. Â It hasn't had nearly as much man power, time and money thrown at it as Final Fantasy XV. Â As much as I found Skyrim to be boring as hell, it probably did take a lot of time to make. Â If the quests in FFXIII-2 are anything to go by, this game is going to make Skyrim look like the best RPG ever in comparisons. Â FFXIII-2 had the shittiest, most uninteresting, poorly voice acted sidequests ever along with a boring convoluted time travel story to boot.
Bethesda games always have an amount of content that requires years and years to produce. It's just a matter of if that content is interesting or not, and often times it's not.Lightning Returns just looks like another rush job like FFXIII-2, they're probably still recycling all the content they cut out the first FFXIII. I thought the atmosphere was horrible too... too much teenage drama. FF used to be adult characters going out of their way to save the world, not childish kids in their puberty. Thought in FF9 they was teenagers too, it seemed like that was just an age because their characters and the responsibility they all had seemed to match that of a more mature figure.
You know practically all the FFs have mixtures of teenagers and kids. 3 was a bunch of kids, 4 had 3 kids, 5 was an old man and a bunch of teens, 6 was a bunch of teens , 8 is pretty much all teens, and 9,10, 12, and 13 are mixed groups. Also Yuna and Tidus are 17 in X, 19 in X-2. Hardly kids. Youre trippingLightning Returns just looks like another rush job like FFXIII-2, they're probably still recycling all the content they cut out the first FFXIII. You think Skyrim doesnt recycle content? Why do you think we saw so many sequels this gen? So developers wouldnt have to rebuild an entire game from the ground up with these bloated development costs. I dont care if Lightning Returns lacks a 50 million dollar development budget, I've seen plenty of expensive AAA games turn out to be crap and ive seen dirt cheap indie games winning tons of awards, a big development budget doesnt mean anything.
All i care about is how fun the game is, everything i've seen about the game looks fun, they completely rebuilt the combat system and made it more action based, they are making it more open, they are putting new and interesting gameplay mechanics into the game, its not going to sell 5 million copies, its not going to have a 90 metacritic score, but its going to fun to play and thats all i care about.
Square Enix stupdity comes entirely from the top , where the CEO and his crew are, they have no idea how to run this company and they are still around because of the sheer talent of their developers and strong IPs.
Â
Lol. That totally explains all the new monsters, and brand new map. [quote=""]Umeda stated that, The wilderness is designed with a natural open world style of play in mind. Toriyamas first instruction was beat Skyrim! That may be a tall order with the resources on hand, but as this is FF we decided it might be best to approach it by letting you run about on a chocobo. Also, although there is lots of freedom in the wilderness, there is only one goal but with many paths to accomplishing it.Capitan_Kid

lol
Beat Skyrim at what? Sales? lol!! That's not going to happen anytime soon. FF isn't the game it used to be. 13 sold the same as Skyrim Uuummm no. FF XIII sold just over 7 million. FF XIII - 2 sold just over 3 million copies. Skyrim on all 3 platforms sold over 15 million copies, with over 7 million sold on the XBox 360. So, he must not be talking about sales. Maybe it is how big their map will be.You think Skyrim doesnt recycle content?Â
crimsonman1245
Skyrim had a completely different game engine to that of Oblivion. Â It didn't recycle anything in terms of content. Â It was made from the ground up. Â
I still like the older FF games and would love to finish the 7, 8, 9 & 10 series. I'm not really hyped at all for Lightning Return though. More interested in FF XV as it's been in development for so long.ff is pretty much dead to me now , its a shame i used to love the series, im excited for more tales games now along with the shin megami tensai series :)
Yrkoon99
Lol FFXIII sold off brand loyalty alone. Â Then FFXIII-2 came out and didn't sell nearly as much. Â It's pretty obvious about 4 million people didn't want to be apart of this shitfest of a series to even bother buying the sequel. Â Wont surprise me if Lightning Returns sells even less than FFXIII-2. Â Unless it some how turns out to be a good game. Â Highly unlikely.Â
I really enjoyed FF13. It's the only game that I've bothered to get every achievement on thus far. FF13-2 is another story though. The game never enticed me enough to even finish it. Does anyone know if to follow Lightning Returns' story that I would need to know FF13-2's story? That would have some influence if I buy this game or not.
I must be a vile piece of shit with no taste for liking Skyrim. All I ever hear is how shitty it is. :?Xaero_Gravity

What teenage drama? Tidus disliking his father?Â
Anyway, there's only one true teenager in the party and that is Rikku. Tidus and Yuna are young adults while Auron, Lulu, Wakka, and Kimhari are completely adults.Â
I mean, go ahead and dislike the game, but "childish kids in their puberty" is a ridiculously dumb criticism.Â

I wouldn't say Tidus ruined everything else in FFX, but I do wish Square could have handled how Tidus coped with his daddy issues better. That is really my only complaint with him...well, that and his silly character design.

Well, considering every individual piece of content from either of the Witcher games is better than any individual piece of content than any of the Elder Scrolls games, saying that you now have a game in that series that's got 20% more to see and do than the crappy Skyrim is like saying, "Best. Game. Ever."
