A multiplat versus an exclusive. Bit unfair, no? :P
I would say that SSBB > GTA IV (360) and SSBB > GTA IV (PS3) but GTA IV (360 + PS3) > SSBB.

[QUOTE="Broc_Samson"][QUOTE="laughingman42"][QUOTE="Broc_Samson"]SSB has a much larger fanbase around the world and I would argue that if 90% of every Wii owner on the planet bought SSB (which will probably happen) it would outsell GTA worldwide. Its a toss up for the US alone though.laughingman42
umm... GTA games have sold way more than the SSB games. and SSBM had about a 1/3 attach rate not a 90% attach rate.
That's possible, even probable, but a 90% attach rate is just ridiculous, not even Halo can do that.
I admit that was a bit of a stretch but its rate is right up there with Halo's.

I'm not used to nintendo games selling.. aside from pokemon and stuff.
So i'll just go for GTA?
Seriously i thought everyone knew GTA and only nintendo fans and heavy gamers knew SSB.
KungfuKitten
Nintendo games typically sell alot. SSBM and Mario Kart: DD both outsold Halo:CE SM64 sold over 13 million. SMG has already sold 5 million.
GTAIV easily
Its on the 360 and PS3, and will be recieving much more hype and publicity.
skrat_01
America will be the only place that GTA will recieve real publicity... and thats mainly because the news stations will be complaining about it.

It seems to sell well in the UK, heck it sells well here in Australia too.By the end of 2008, I think Brawl will sell more, because it's gonna have a huge head start. Not to mention, GTA doesn't sell in Japan.
If it can do 5mill in america in week 1, it'll probably beat Brawl before the end of 08. If it does 3 or 4, it's gonna be close. Brawl is gonna sell like gobs for an exclusive game though, and so will Wii Fit. It's just a testament to Nintendo that one of their exclusive games can come close to outselling the biggest 3rd party multiplat release of this generation.

actually that's not a good point. it's a very naive and uneducated one.
just because brawl has 2 months head start doesnt give it an advantage whatsoever- unless gta was released during the last quarter of the year.
lets say 100 people wanted to buy brawl and another 100 people wanted to buy gta. lets assume they have sufficient income to buy the game. when their game gets released they buy it. is the 2 month late start of gta gonna prevent those 100 from getting it??
just because gta doesnt sell well in japan give it much of a disadvantage in sales either. why? theWorld>japan

No I mean by factoring in Japans sales.I dont mean by the monthly advantage.
I just said it was a very good point also. I still think GTA IV will probably sell more.

If it wasn't for Japan, Wii would still be second to the 360 in worldwide sales.
Japan helps, A LOT. ;)

if the wii and 360 were sold in the same time frame, without japan it would still dominate. consoles are different to games. there's only 3 home consoles compared to a limitless number of videos games.

oki doki i understand.
Definately the 360 version of GTA IV will destroy sales once again. But SSBB will not do too shabby.
hmm i would have to say gta4 will sell more not because its a better game just because its comin out for 360 n ps3 but SSBB will give it a hell of a run carter15kd5
It would be kinda funny to actually out sell GTA which is now multiplat, to a game just on 1 console.

This is MY point. SSBB will outsell GTAIV on 360 or PS3 alone but not both combined.
No doubt that GTA IV will sell more, but in terms of "more bang for your buck", SSBB wins. With GTA IV, youll be done playing with it for a few months and with SSBB, we are talking years and years of playing it. SSBB at 50 bucks is a steal because its actually worth thousands.
