Modest? Those are pretty solid. So, I guess the game is optimized?
@IgGy621985: thank you. i want to move to h97 chipset, core i7, SSD for intel RST/SRT, GPU with >3x the benchmark scores. no rush at this stage of the gen.
i don't know about optimised, but it's certainly exceeded my expectations for performance at this super early stage.
Console version confirmed?
not even close
Can they really afford skip consoles, we all know the big money is in console gaming...
forty three million seven hundred and eighty three thousand eight hundred and seventy seven dollars of funding so far.
so yes they can afford to skip consoles.

they can afford skipping systems that couldnt even play it, yes
Next gen consoles can play it...
there are no plans for next gen console versions, however they are open minded.
in terms of hardware this game is a pc game through and through

This was beautiful
"Star Citizen IS a PC game. It will NEVER be dumbed down for a lesser platform. We will NOT limit the input options or supported peripherals to the lowest common denominator. We will NOT pass on features and technology just because they will only run on some hardware configurations."
I nearly cried.
@melonfarmerz: "I just upgraded my office rig to a pair of Titans running in SLI, driving a 4K monitor and a 1440P one (Thanks NVidia for the goodies!). We’re about ready to build the ultimate AMD rig with FOUR R9 290Xs and AMD’s eight core CPU driving a set of 4K monitors in Eyefinity (Thanks AMD!)"
Funny if that is what is needed to play in max settings...

would you like a serious response to this?
@aroxx_ab:
Its already coming to Steam OS and Mac so funny how they are releasing it for lesser known gaming platforms. Its obvious they can afford to skip console/
Man, that game looks so f'ing gorgeous. Im gonna need a new graphics card by the time it comes out in 5 years :P
Arena Commander Phase I is out. Phase II should be out in the next few months, and I bet Phase III (barring any major issues) will be out before the end of the year. Squadron 42 (the singleplayer) will likely be out mid-to-late 2015, and the completed product will probably be released summer 2016. They have nearly $45 million in funding and several teams working on every portion of the game (FPS shooter, flight MP, flight SP, cutscenes, engineering design, etc.).
The production for the game is on a roll now. It's going to be done in a 1.5-2 year time frame. Especially if they get even more funding.
Three new Freelancer's up in the pledge store:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge
Freelancer DUR($140.00 USD) - The Freelancer DUR variant specializes in exploration. Sacrificing 25% cargo capacity of the standard Freelancer for an enhanced jump drive, a more advanced scanner, and an expanded fuel tank may seem like a bad call to some, but those who value discovery over profit will find it to be their ship of choice.
Freelancer MAX ($155.00 USD) - Freelancer variant with additional cargo capacity at the expense of weapons. The Freelancer MAX variant sacrifices weaponry for an increased cargo capacity making it ideal for equipment or raw materials transport.
Freelancer MIS($180.00 USD)- The Freelancer MIS is a limited edition militarized variant of the classic mercantile ship developed by the UEE. These were produced in very small quantity due to some early payload incidents. This version sacrifices the majority of the cargo capacity to make way for missiles.
All three available as upgrade kits to the stock Freelancer ($15.00, $30.00 and $55.00 USD respectfully).
I picked myself up a MAX upgrade kit for my existing Freelancer and bought the Origin Jumpworks 325A that I've been humming and hawing about for the last couple days.

Bit disappointed in the lack of variety of the interiors of the new Freelancers i.e. there is none, they're all exactly the same as the base ship. The only exception is a small console in the middle of the MIS.
I'm hoping that they're still w.i.p. and the interiors will be updated.

I don't doubt they are. It says on the page that these are just examples of what players will be able to do to kit out their ships (bigger guns, bigger cargo holds, better sensors, etc). And the variety comes from the different ships, not the variants (to me, that's like the difference between a stock Dodge Charger and a Charger SRT8).
I really hope they start releasing models for the 890 Jump, Hull C and the Surveyor. Well, and things like the Retaliator, Caterpillar and Starfarer too.
They still have so much to do... the graphics are great... but they seem to have balls up the cryengine alittle.... everything is blurry in motion... I thought we were past adding ridiculous motion blur to games....

That's the default CryEngine settings for you. Just type in r_motionblur 0 in the console or something like that and it will disable it.
They haven't done much tweaking and are still using the default CryEngine graphic settings for most things. That's why we can't customize the graphics further.
