Uncharted 4 gfx what??? Lol
@TheFadeForever: where can you buy it for $45?
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Squadron-42-Preorder
Buy it for 45$ and you'll get both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen, as well as Access to alpha right now, just for that price. Remember that Sq42 and Star Citizen will be sold separately in 2016. This offer will end next year.
Ooh ship wars!
I wanted a Retaliator but I won't be playing with other people all that much because I rather shoot them than play with them so...
Well I got a Ghost. After playing Rebel Galaxy I kinda figured out how I want to play in Star Citizen and the Ghost seems to be the most in line with that. And no, it's not because I want to do illicit things all the time but watching me play Rebel Galaxy (I know that's a very different game) I realized some things I am terrible at, and good at, and this matches me. Even in a bigger corp it would put me in a role that I'd probably like.
But the 325A would have been my second choice cause it reminds me of a spacedildo and I wanted to play with some friends as a 4 player mercenary squad. I think that would be cool in 4 325A's. Bit like Star Wolf. Learn to fly in silly useless formations and such. I'll probably still save up for one in-game.
@MirkoS77: They did a live demo during a stream and the dev said he increased his speed beyond the normal ship limitations just to get down to the surface faster. He said the tech for the planets actually arrived before the gameplay did so they are still working on how they want to handle landing on the planet.
That said, the planet is only 1000 kms in diameter. For reference the Earth is north of 7000. So it's not an overly large planet.
I'm going to assume the larger planets won't be 100% seamless like this. They'll still have dedicated landing zones of various sizes.
I'm not trying to be negative when I say this but there's no way this game is going to run on anything less than a really expensive system.
That said....that looks badass. Sorta what I expected No Mans Sky to be.....but looks like Star Citizen is it.
Also... I'll be building a new PC once this game fully releases.
You can bet your bippy on that.

Yup, Earth is 12,756km to be exact. Their planet is really tiny in comparison.
When is Star Citizen going to reveal a release date? Or is this game out already?
SQ42 Singplayer 2016 and Star Citizen 2017/2018

Man that's a bit of a wait. Oh well, I should have a new rig by then that should be able to handle it.

Oh. Google returned it in miles. My bad.
Don't get too hyped guys, Star Citizen could end up being the next Spore.
You bastard! *runs crying out of forum*
@robokill: The lowest end package that will let you play the game in it's current form, and it's released and expanded upon form later down the line costs on their website only $45
Not looking forward to upgrading for this game though :( If I'm going to play this tittle I might as well do it full out VR and all.
Elite Dangerous doesn't even have atmospheric entry for the planets all of it is pretty much airless planets. They are going add ones with atmosphere maybe next year but you have to pay for all these add on while SC you can get all of the content for 45 dollar.
There charging around 60 dollars to drive around a empty rock planet for new players. Basically you have to buy the game again to get additional content so early backers are screwed.
Any reason they can't go above 1000km given the rendering methods?
They didn't say it's a limit, they just said that's what the planet was currently at. It may be a limit though. Even at 1000 km diameter, that's a lot of surface area.
I believe they have confirmed that they aren't really going for a accurate scale model of systems or planets. They are just going to try to make things look good and feel huge.

Depending on when and how you backed it the price differentiates. The $60 includes everything up to day for new players which is reasonable.
I'm not really how this is different than say buiying an xpac for any other MMO. Star Citizen sells individual ships for more than $60 and the game isnt even out yet. I dont really see how thats a really valid argument.
@oflow: Who said you need to spend 60 dollars or more on ships when paying 45 or even 30 dollars can get you the entire game. Elite Dangerous is still in early access on steam and charging for additional content that means people who bought the game earlier would have to pay more each time something new is added not just backers. The people who bought it for 60 dollars now will have to spend more for the next add on for ED.
Those who already own ED will initially be paying more than 60 dollars to continue playing all the added stuff regardless how much there starting price was for the game. And don't act if ED offered so much more all you really do in the game is fight a couple ships here and there the majority of the time and non of their updates added anything significant to the game.
@oflow:
$75 to be beta backers and help launch the game. There is a $15 discount if you already have Elite, there for 75-15 = 60 + 60 for horizons = 120.
If purchased on steam sale for $15, then -15 to 60 for horizons = 45+15 = 60.
Therefor they are screwing over everyone that was a beta backer. Double for the game but apparently its ok.

Yep its a slap in the face for beta backers yet oflow thinks there isn't anything wrong with it but criticizes SC selling ships when CIG doesn't make you buy them unless you want to support the game. Its perfectly ok to add bare bone content.

Well, what I was thinking was something along the lines of "entry corridors", huge hexagonal areas in space that would narrow to cover certain relevant geography around the planet. So if you're looking for a base, you do so in its hex sector. If you enter the atmosphere elsewhere, you can get there, but you will be flying minutes or even hours to get where you need to be.
It's like Space Engine except done on a huge budget. I don't know how far they'l take this but being able to fly into nebulas and near stars with modern graphics would be ridiculous. Like give us the ability to do that, please.

You don't have to spend more than 45$ on Star Citizen. You pay 45$, you get Squadron 42 and Star Citizen as well as access to Alpha right now. If you pay more to support the game then you get extra goodies just like any other crowd funded game. It's different than selling features of the game post initial launch.
Maybe if they weren't infatuated with shoehorning FPS mechanics in an otherwise awesome game, the game would be out this year. Can't believe that shit delayed the project a whole year. Can't wait to play this game with me greatgrandchildren.
Wasn't expecting CIG to be this far along in space - planet transitions and procedual generated planets. They're probably surprised themself lol. Well done CIG, well done.
Did they mention when we'll be able to do this in the game? I wasn't home to watch the stream.
Considering the awkward fucking live stream with Chris Roberts trying to play the game,
Yes. CiG surprised themselves that they've actually made something.

you want a AAA game with tech never before done in gaming, out in 2.5 years? Are you freaking kidding me?

- GTA V: 4 years development time.
- Dragon Age Origins: 5 years
-Skyrim : 6 years
- Fallout 3/4 : 6/4 years (Fallout 4 entered pre-production in 2008, actually, full production in 2011)
- StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty: 7 years
- Half-Life 2: 5 years
- L.A. Noire: 7 years
- Resident Evil 4: 6 years
From another thread, another compiled the length of development from other titles vs SC. SC is barely 3 years.
All of these games pale in terms of scope and innovation, both in gameplay and technicality, when compared to Star Citizen. And these are fully-funded and some are well-established studios. CiG had to start from scratch.
Stupidity is a choice. Please don't be an idiotic greatgrandparent to your descendants.

Damn, that's a nice ship, congrats!
@quadknight: hey that's what I have! Nice fighter ship for me, I don't really fancy the enormous multicrew ones.
Neither do I lol.
@Locutus_Picard: FPS was a main mechanic from day one..its a first person universe the whole game depends on it.......maybe inform yourself first so you aint bitching about something that is completely wromg
But they had to go and put shooty pewpewpew in it? Give me a break. I never once thought that shooting things in the face added to realism. First person camera view is perfectly fine. Yet they had to go and shove a gun into your hands because the Call of Duty OCD-kiddies want to shoot yet another thing in the face.
I've been interested in this game for a long time. Now that I actually have a good gaming PC capable of running games past 720p 20fps, I'll be looking into this.
The game looks amazing!

Hmm I think Captain Picard is misinterpreting their intention. They don't want to make a first person shooter, but it 'needs' first person shooting in it for some of the cool things they will put in the game. Like boarding. Supposedly, you can use a boarding vessel and board enemy ships to take out the crew inside. Obviously you won't be able to board most single person vehicles, so you don't have to worry about it at all. But how cool is it that you can be in a prolonged fight as part of the crew of a carrier/huge ship, knowing that the enemy is probably trying to sneak in a boarding crew. Was that the sound of the airlock? Or was it your colleague finding some private time in the bathroom?
Or if you have a price on your head, and you walk into an unofficial station in the dark corners of the 'verse, or perhaps you visit the black market in a Baanu Merchantman, someone standing in a corner may be interested in the price on your head... Is he just happy to see you, or is that an ID scanner in his trousers? I think it might add a lot to the possibilities, and tension and atmosphere of the stations/ships. Especially to the less civilized sectors.
