Star Ocean 4 has made me put my faith back in Square Enix

I love the game. It's awesome, and people made WAY too big a deal of the voice acting. JRPG fans, Square Enix is here with an excellent game well worth 60 bux

This, Lost Odyssey, and tales of vesperia make this next gen a very awesome jrpg gen.

(just not like th ps2, but still it's good , haha)

i dont get it, people complaining about SE, the way i have seen it they have only really had 2 major games, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom hearts, Star Ocean kinda plays backup to those too. This generation they have released abit of filler, Infinate Undiscovery and TLR both where not amazing, but none of them where BAD per say, The World Ends With YOu was pretty good if i remember.

in short, as long as Versus and XIII kick ass, they will have met my expectations, the fact that they are releasing MORE cannot be a bad thing

They are different games, not even competing, LO is more about story and SO4 about gameplay, both look stunning and varied and bsolutly must own titles for me, that is the important thing

I am a old time FF fan, the games i have kept from my PS1 days are mainly FF titles, and loved Lost Odyssey, i only missed summons, summons is the reason FF13 is my most wanted JRPG

yup, i am getting this and the strat guide tomorrow.....and halo wars. I was gonna get KZ2, but over 10 of my friends forced me into HW tomorrow. KZ2 will wait till next paycheck.

Im glad others agree how great this game is, really better then tri-aces previous efforts. Man I havent dumped so many hours straight into an RPG for years. Its great to get hooked on a game again, its something that hasnt happened to me yet this gen.

I've been seeing a lot of cows saying it's a "flop", so I didn't know. :(

Square Enix is much more then it use to be and the videogame industry has change drastically. Gamers aren't really sitting on the edge of their seat wondering if a Japanese game will head to North America like back in the late 90s. And the RPG Revolution has a created a era in Japanese RPGs where developers are now considering a western market over its own in the Rising Sun. About 12 years have since Final Fantasy VII pushed the idea of English localization in gaming. In short, we've played these games before.

But this generation is quite different from what we saw on the PSOne and the PS2 because of development cost, hardware, the multiplatform era, and 3 hard pressing consoles on the market. Final Fantasy XIII was announced at E3 in 2006 and it's coming to the US in 2010? Not to mention Versus has no established window for a release. A Kingdom Hearts game for a current generation console hasn't been announced yet, and Dragon Quest X was revealed acouple of months ago which it's release is TBA.

Even though Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia are good games people are looking for that trademark quality Square Enix puts into its top 3 franchises. Last Remnant was not it. Even though Star Ocean: The Last Hope is fun, it's not the game we've been waiting for either.

Anyone whos played the game knows how great it is. I just love PS3 fanboys coming in to try to put the game down in some manner or another.

But I have to disagree, the voice acting WAS a big deal. It is the worst voice acting I've ever seen in a JRPG, and thats saying a lot. And is it just me, or is anyone else a little tired of the whole "kids" in JRPGs? Ever since Pallom and Porom, or whatever their names were in FFII on the SNES, I've had annoying children invading my JRPGs. I was wishing for a monster to swoop down and kill the kid, cat and chicken lady. Great game, terrible, terrible voice acting. I also agree with the complaints about save points.

I never have lost faith in Square Enix so yeah... anyways Tri Ace makes great games SO 4 is amazing.

The Kudos should go to y'know, Tri-Ace for developing it. But then again, even Authors tend to get all the credit, even when they use Ghost Writters. :P
