Sweet, I probably get it since I will be abled to so.. I wonder if I can easily jump in without lack of experience of previous entries.

JRPG characters always seem to look the same. They need to get rid of the anime inspired mushroom haired 17 year old clone teenagers. Give us something interesting. Its always the same. JRPG's will never change this way.
I like the art-style though. Looks great. But the screen in space looks CGI. Doubt that is in-game.

Are you're actually calling Western Role Playing games generic? Kotor, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Diablo.
Western RPG's are far more original and creative games. I bet Star Ocean is still using that same tired battle system Japanese developers don't want seem let go off.

Both can be creative and both can be uninspired and bland..

Thanks for proving that you never played Star Ocean.
I don't think western developers where being very creative when making generic meat head solider characters or mute characters that start off with no back story whatsoever(elder scrolls). Fact of the matter is really, this guy. Cloud has a far more intresting story to tell than any western character out there.
And no Star Ocean 4 is real time combat just like Star Ocean 3 and 2,1 before it
Dahaka-UK
The characters themself may have no story but the overall world on the other hand had lots of lore.

You can't really compare the two. I've always said that WRPGs and JRPGs are almost completely different genres. The biggest difference (generally) is that in JRPGs, you play a character. In WRPGs, you create a character.
And I say this as someone who likes both a great deal. But they simply offer different things.

I like both also. FFIII and FFVII are one of my favourite games of all time. but I think Japanese role playing games are more about strategic gameplay, and it usually lacks alot of RP'ing aspects. Also WRPG genre does not feature gender confused main characters. Wich is one of the thing I dislike about them.
[QUOTE="jangojay"]Aren't scans prohibited on the forum? If so you might want to move that TC and just leave the link!nintendofreak_2You're allowed to post Japanese scans, but not English ones. I haven't figured out why though. :P
probably because its not sold in europe or NA

Wait, you're calling me insecure because I don't like to role play as a character that looks like a barbie doll? I think there is some other term for that. A Pedohile.

I think we can safely say it is you who is gender confused not being able to tell the difference of what is a male and female character in a JRPGs and all. There is not one JRPG character out there that looks like a fat guy dressed in sailor moon clothing.

It seems lots of JRPG haters like to use Vaan to back up there argument. Fair enough. Vaan is the gayest looking character not just in JRPGs but in Video game history but FF12 is the worst FF in the series so it's justified. Not all JRPG characters look like him. At first glance though you could still tell if Vaan is a male. But thats not the point I'm trying to make though. JRPG characters have better storylines. It's not just about the looks.
Still does explain where the pedo comment came from though. :|

So you posted a sailor moon cosplayer who happen to be a male, who happens to a cosplay character who happens to be an actual female (not faminine male)? How do you relate that to being a character WHO IS a male (more feminine, but still a male), who is being played by a male? Seriously.. First off not every characters looks that way, and second does it matter, its how he looks and nothing more. Its his character design. You knocking on it, because of that.

I'm knocking it because I see more potential in the RPG genre. Japanese developers surely aren't taking advantage of the potential. There is a open market out there. Consumers want JRPG's story driven Adult game. Square Enix will never do this as their games are open towards a more open amount of demographics.
I'm currently anticipating FFXIII versus.
And this game seems to be heading into a very different direction.
JRPG's in general are too similiar. If I won't complain. Nothing will change. I have the right to complain as it is my personal opinion. God bless freedom of speech.
