Star Ocean dev announces new RPG for PS4!!

Star Ocean developer, Try-Ace have collaborated with Spike Chunsoft to create a new IP RPG link

Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita!

Spike Chunsoft and tri-Ace’s collaboration “side-view” RPG has been announced in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine as Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

The teaser from the magazine scan says “the 12 that go against fate in a world that controls life and death.”

More details on Exist Archive will be revealed as information from the magazine becomes available.

The game will have the Valkyria Profile writer and the composer is the same guy who worked on Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean, and Tales games

Not my type of games, didn't like star ocean. But hey, good news nevertheless.

I'd wait to see some gameplay before I start celebrating.

The game sound to be a lot closer to Valkyria Profile than Star Ocean especially when they said its a "Side-View" RPG

I like Valkyrie Profile and I like Star Ocean 2 (or I remember liking them in the PS1 days).

What I didn't like was any of Tri-Ace's recent work after that as both Star Ocean games after that were trash, I don't know what the **** they were on when they came up with Infinite Undiscovery, and I'm willing to listen to an argument on why Resonance of Fate is good, but it had me escort this statue as a mission idea, and I'm like this is lame as ****, I don't want to play this.

Also E-fucking-gad at some of the character designs in Star Ocean 5, not saying I can't get over shitty character designs. I hate Kratos (not necessarily visually), but I think God of War 2 is a very good game, but it isn't like this studio showed me shit in awhile. More or less I'll get hyped when they show gameplay that looks fun.

@jg4xchamp: Best thing I've seen so far about it is the larger party roster. I think it's five or six characters on the field at once now.

im so glad i didnt play Odin Sphere! i have the PS2 copy with me still sealed to this day! (surprisingly found it new and sealed for $7 few years ago) but yeah will surely get the PS4 version (hopefully $30 or less lol)

Yeah the PS4 is going to slay in the quantity department this gen. That is 4 sho. Quality? Remains to be seen.

It would appear that balance has been returned to the Force as of late.

I suppose that's not too far fetched actually. TLG was a technical disaster... on the PS3. Made them think about giving up on the game because the vision for it was too ambitious for the hardware, and they most likely couldn't work the PS3's Cell processor too because Team Ico aren't very good with programming tbh. The game on PS4 is identicle to what they were on making with the PS3, only this time they have the power to do it right and the easier to use hardware. We could look on the bright side of life and say it just might be all the better for being on the PS4 than it would have done on the PS3, assuming the delay hasn't fragmented Ueda's vision, which he insists isn't the case. I know it will be a very good game at the very least, no worries to be honest. Though I want to see much much more of the game before release.

As for Nier, I haven't played it. But it has this cult following and there are people wanting this to be a great game. I will get around to it as a result. Not only that but isn't Platinum Games taking over this second one? Well then, there you go. It will be a better action game than Nier 1 that much is certain, as an RPG? I couldn't tell you sir. All I know is that Platinum are making it, that's all I have to go on. That's enough for me to buy it somewhere down the line.

On top of that Horizon looks good, Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Street Fighter V, Persona 5, Tearaway Unfolded, Alienation, I'll probably buy Dragon Quest XI if it's good. But most of that JRPG stuff is fucking trash so that doesn't do much for me. Apart from a few games that are top of that pile. Truth is though, we are still talking a dozen games or so over the next year. Really not that impressive, especially when you have to consider, will those games be any good in the first place? I wish I didn't follow gaming, it makes waiting so much harder.

So is it a side-scrolling action RPG? If so, then that's something I might be interested in seeing. Those kinds of games are a rarity these days (the last one I remember was Dragon's Crown).

Have Tri-Ace even made anything good in the last 5 years? Resonance of Fate was decent, but nothing altogether ground-breaking.

I hope they actually manage to make a good JRPG. I miss the old-school games.
