I agree OP. SWTOR has the *potential* to be great.

Untainted by console, maintaining the Bioware epic story, including the MMO scale.

yep, it's been a tough gen for the jedi.

prolly bad enough for them to consider getting a shot of penicillin to get rid of that infectious blood disease they carry.

Yeah, this gen Star Wars games have been terrible! KOTOR, Battlefront 2 and Roghe Leader were full of win!!!

SWTOR would be great, if the bioware didn't make it a WoW clone. And this qoute from them dosn't help:

"[World of Warcraft] is a touchstone. It has established standards. It's established how you play an MMO. Every MMO that comes out, I play and look at it. And if they break any of the WoW rules, in my book that's pretty dumb.""

So I'll look forward to PlanetSide 2 instead.

I can't believe people keep thinking that the old republic will be somewhat of a competition to WOW. The only way to kill WOW is to do something completely different... not just one thing. Everything. Distinguish itself from the pack, because frankly there are hundreds of others MMO's out there.

The only MMO that was ever decent on consoles was the EQ one on PS2, and DC Universe. Trying to create a social universe doesn't compute when you add consoles to the mix.

If consoles games suck so much then why have you played BFBC2 for 267 hours. I thought it was a consolized version of the true battlefield game?

The PC might be 6 years ahead in hardware, but in software, not even close.

I'm in the beta, and it has way more polish than WoW when WoW was released. Also look really good when you max out your settings AF/FSAA.

Probably can't say much more w/out sacrificing my beta status, but it's not as big as a clone as you think, and some of the class stories are as epic as KOTOR.

This is getting really sad. Honestly, whatever helps you guys feel better. It's getting very old. Get over it already. Games are games, the devs do what they do.

Star Wars: The Old Republic cannot be done on consoles whatsoever, mainly due to the complexity of the controls. So why was there any need for this statement?

Do you even know what an MMO is?

Also, quite a lot of games you listed are quality games. Unless you have a distaste for good games or your trolling.

Old REpublic looks to be quite the WoW clone and I don't really see what consoles have to do with the quality of SW games....

KOTOR 1 + 2 were console ports and amazing games.....

Edit: Even system warring hermits will attest to the greatness of the KOTORS and they're clearly Xbox games first and available on PC second.

KOTOR, Jedi Academy and Republic Commando were on console and they're 3 of the best Star Wars games ever. You might as well blame consoles for 3rd world hunger. Logic fail :P

I have to agree that most star wars games this gen had been lame opposing to last gen's games from rogue leader to Battlefront 2 .doubalfa

I will wait for Guild wars 2 instead since it doesn't look like another WoW clone.

...and third SWTOR we'll be trash, the WoW-esque graphics and gameplay plus the lack of a story as powerful as KoTOR and KoTOR 2 already makes it a disgrace to the series. Seriously, lucasarts and EAare the worst publishers ever, way worse than and Activison. They don't make a seuel to one of their most beloved franchise, instead they try to make a cash in. They're even hurting themselves when they don't make sequels to battlefront 2 and the republiccommando

SWTOR will end up being the 2011 GOTY.
