I seem to remember that DA: Origins was brilliant even if it was released on consoles as well. So was the original Knights of the Old Republic, actually.

Pretty obvious since you insinuated that a game not being on consoles equated a good game. A very, very false statement. I could mention more games, but I chose to use two games from the same dev as Star Wars: The Old Republic.

A generation of call of duty is the greatestt thing ever since slice bread. As soon as 360/PS3 hit it was all about graphics, coolness and gimmick trash. Nothing is ever simple anymore for the devs with consoles. Star wars was great on consoles and PC. Consoles have changed great games from the past got worse. As I've said before, Lucas Arts does not like money, because if they did we would have:
Tie Fighter 2
Battlefront 3
Jedi Knight: Old Republic (I would love that, and it would make use of the Old Republic era outside of MMO's, and RPG's)
Jedi Knight: Jedi Acadamy 2
Star Wars: Republic at War
Republic Commando 2
Bounty Hunter 2
Rouge Squadrin 4
So....................Lucasarts does not like money.

I still don't see what consoles specifically have to do with some designers deciding to focus on better tech for multiple platforms. I agree Star Wars games have got worse but you're pointing the stick in the wrong direction. Bioware is an amazing developer that can get the best out of any story based sci fi franchise, I'm sure they could make an amazing Star Wars exclusive for a console too. In fact I'd love them to work on a Star Trek game.[QUOTE="tomarlyn"][QUOTE="mattuk69"] "Stars wars one of many series ruined this gen from current consoles." *laughs* that your trying to make out that Consoles are the source of starwars games problems... and not George lucas...
The gameplay looks boring. I think we'll see far better combinations of action and RPGs this year.

That video is more than 1.5 years old. Due to the size and scope of an MMO the animations/combat 'feel' are the last things they finish.
Especially in this game, where so much time is dedicated to creating the Star Wars world and adding content, figuring out ****s, pvp systems etc.
Watch E3 videos from this year, like this: youtube
anti-subscription / anti-pc gamers don't know what they are going to miss. Legendary game approaching, beyond AAAA, a new ranking system.
You won't see any game like this for years to come, and it will be PC only as well. Just like WoW in 2004 before it..
Finally a blending of ME2 and an MMO. Playing with 10k people on a server is an uncomparable experience. No cross server dungeons either, so this will get interesting.

That didn't look much better, gameplay-wise.
Another newer video.
Showing an MMO is a bit like showing Skryim, hard to capture exactly what this is going to be.
But ... picture ME2, now add a massive open world ala Skyrim X 20, ok ... a dash of real life friends, what do you get?
Well, something kind of like that sith leaping at 1:10, pwn.

You like ME1?
Its going to be more interactive than that, by far.
Again, hard to show.

ME1 is almost unplayable now. It was good when it came out, but it has aged horribly.

I just beat ME1 a few weeks ago and it blew me away, again.
However that was on PC, I hear the game is painful on console (mako and elevators right?)

The Makko is one of the few good things. I don't have an issue with the elevators. The combat is simply outdated.

Combat is only a facet of the game.
The original Star Wars movies are 'outdated' technically, but their newer counter-parts made with new technology are dramatically worse.
I'm not saying old Star Wars + new tech is a bad thing. But combat is merely a facet, just like the 'flash' of good CGI.
ME1 is still an amazing game, for its world/music/story/characters, and the combat isn't awful and unplayable ... just not as visceral as ME2.
TOR will be an amped up version of WoW combat, which feels great in my opinion. Precise like counter strike in a way, doing arenas and pvp.

The gameplay is the most important part of a game, and in an action RPG, the combat is the most important part of the gameplay. ME1's combat is horribly outdated now, and if that's the best comparison we can find to describe ToR, then that game won't do very well.

ME1 is my example, since you like Bioware and ME (according to your sig at least).
TOR will have much better combat than ME1. Like I said, WoW precision amped up. Add 10 other people to the mix battling their way into some moon base, and the combat takes on a whole new perspective.
Fluid, fast, furious.

That's not what I got from the videos (it looked very boring, and the WoW comparison doesn't help). It looked slow, bland and clunky. And very poorly animated.

MMOs just aren't for you then.
So because the Old Republic (the new one) is a PC-exclusive it's automatically great??? i don't understand

Well .. not automatically.
It's a bit like putting a flower out in the sun, it can grow, but only if tended. Weeds still can damage the plant.
Developing for console is a bit like trying to grow a flower with a flourescent light.
