Fans of Blizzard know that Blizzard never "reinvents the wheel." They expect refinement and polish, not innovation.Redmoonxl2
That, and I'm sure one of the main reasons why it has taken sooo long for this game to be announced is because Blizzard knew they hype would be massive. They prolly didn't want to announce anything until they KNEW it would meet expectations.Â
This game could easyly flop, remember LoZ:TP? That game didnt re-invent the "wheel" but it made it better yet is scored below AAA hear, you just never know. Some times re-inventing is the best choicemexicangordo
1) LoZ: TP only flopped in a few places and was overall praised.
2) There's a big difference between a RTS and an Adventure game.Â

Thats exactly what I mean. Lets hope "they knew" holds true, because this game has the potential to surprise people with its quality in comparison to the original. Its a break it or make it situation, and Blizzard is more then a talented enough name to actually make it.

Yes it was praised by other sites, and its a good game but GS counts the mostand i didnt compare the games, i used LoZ as an example on how sometimes times change...The same tricks get old sometimes, even if there polished. Of couse the game wont suck though, i mean, it is Blizzard after all.

1) What matters the "most" is a matter of opinion, not fact.
2) Again, you are comparing a competitive game to a single player game. Apples and oranges.Â

*le sigh* again your avoiding the point1) i honestly dont know how you view things but hear at SW GS matters most, not a matter of opinion but its a rule and a given fact
2) and as i said before your avoiding the whole point of things, im not comparing ANYTHING, but iam using an example of what doing the same my not always work. AGAIN im not comparing the games....i used LoZ as an example...that is all

I'm not avoiding the point, you're just ignoring mine.
1) as said, people may think that GS scores matters more here in GS but that varies from person to person. I personally don't follow that silly rule simply because going by one score is retarded. End of story.
2) Again, when it comes to a comeptitive game, "same" tends to be the right move. People who have played competitively with the original want to enter into familiar territory, not completely relearn everything and feel like the game is foreign to the player. This is completely different from a single player game where it can take more risks. Again, apples and oranges.

I'm not ignoring your point as well but it seems that we dont see eye to eye...but o well thats the point of opinion.1) Thats nice that you think that, but when i said SW i wasnt singling you out, im talking about the community as a whole, the main reviews we look at are at GS, it only makes sense. we are in a GS board.
 2) Your post doesnt justify your "apples and oranges" comment because for the last time im not comparing something, We are talking about the core essence of a game, its fun factor, appeal of wanting to play more, it varies from person to person, but like i said before i wasnt comparing anything. I can say that LoZ wasnt re-invented the series nor is SC looking to do the same. So what does that mean? That SC might not be as AAA status as we might all like, look at LoZ which is my example not my comparision. It went through a similar situation.Â

What about the jump from wc2 to wc3?
Battle Realms did 90% of what Warcraft 3 much earlier. WC3 has almost nothing original about it. It just happens to be a much better game than Battle Realms.Â
Blizzard is the kinda of developer who will throw out the entire game and start over if they need too, Ibelieve that was at least partially done with the original starcraft.cobrax75Correct. After the first media released, the gaming world pretty much dismissed it as "orcs in space," so Blizzard scrapped it and started over. >_>

It would be interesting if everyone were to heavily criticize SC2, in order that Blizzard work even harder. It would probably hurt the game development, as it is indeed a bad idea, but it would at least be mildly entertaining.
Looking at my title, you might be offended. Let me heal you. This game will rock. But it may not be the total revolution and refinement people want in a sequel. The hype factor is terrifyingly high. Although I would like to be wrong, this game will not re-invent the wheel. It is, however, going to tell us why the wheel is so awesome. That is all. Not the bashing you were expecting. But, for the fanboys, this is 100% speculation. organic_machineIts not trying to revolutionize or reinvent the wheel. Its trying to make the wheel as perfectly round as possible.

Games that have been played relatively non stop for nearly a decade with relatively few complaints don't really need a revolution. /end topic

The graphics and gameplay looks great in my opinion. The only thing that im worried about is the storyline, i would be severely dissapointed if they dont show the Xel'Naga race. flipdc5

StarCraft fans didn't wait ten years to care what GameSpot thinks of SC2, it's going to be what they think.
Try to grasp that.
