America is baseball Canada is hockey most of Europe is soccer but I don't think people recognize that if Blizzard doesn't give Korea Starcraft II, that their economy would crash. yellowsaberActually the beta is hurting thier economy so many people just dont show up to work lol.
someone should invade korea the day that comes out. Theyd just run right through them, they will all just be wayy to distracted to fight back lol
If North Korea invades south on launch day, they won't face any resistance. Everyone will be at home pwning in starcraft 2.

ugh.. beat me to it :P
sc2 is not a sport...its a game :)alberth123123Have you seen the way those guys play the game? It makes you sweat just watching :P
sc2 is not a sport...its a game :)alberth123123
It's an E-sport. It's not in the same sub-category as say soccer, but it's under the category "sport" so, yeah.

Actually, American football is the most popular sport in the US. It past baseball some time ago.

In Texas we worship football basically. Oh how I remember... *enters nostalgia cloud with harp music* :)People make a lot of money over there playing the game and the trend won't be dying down anytime soon. Plus this is really old news. lol
Actually I'm pretty sure it's Taekwondo. Maybe put Stacraft in second, though it'sprobably more mainstream popular;)

And this is through elementary, middle, and then into High School.
sc2 is not a sport...its a game :)alberth123123Yeah yeah tell that to the Koreans. And the TS is wrong. SC 2 is not Korea's National Sport, sc2 IS Korea.
Yes, indeed!
Have you heard that Starcraft competitions are shown on the television in Korea? What a strange world we live in here in 1999!
[QUOTE="illegalimigrant"]America is soccer US is American Football Infact most of the world's is soccer with a few exceptionsglez13
No America isn't soccer. First America is a continent, thus it cannot have a national sport. Second its not soccer its FOOTBALL.
In the eyes of most people in the world, "America" is the United States, not a continent. There is no single American continent, but two -- North America and South America.

Hey if we say Soccer in the US that's our business! *throws shoe at you* ;)if so, then korean has no life...this is pathetic if a country's national sport is a video game.
oajlu
Why? Because they don't like sweating like pigs while running up and down a grass field while trying to get a ball on the opposite side's net?
You are even more pathetic if you think so.
"Hi, guys! What's your national sport?"
"Football. It's like a melee skirmish involving balls and such."
"Soccer. It's a goal-based ball game where you kick balls into nets."
"Starcraft."
"What's that?"
"It's strategic wargame roughly based on principles of real warfare."
Okay, that's not pathetic. That's scary.

i think korea's national sport are like taekwondo, soccer, figure skating, or baseball
oajlu
I agree with this lad..
If this video game is their national " sport " then they are one sad little country...
I'm suprised South Korea doesn't have some obesity epidemic happening right now
And before any of yous quote me for sayinga video game is not a sport, take into account this fact -- ITS NOT. Sport involves excercise, strategy and actually getting out into the fresh air..sitting at a computer screen shooting magic at polygons does not count ( or whatever u do in the game )
And by the way, South Korea are actually quite good at football...

As far as I know there's actually illegal activities surrounding SC in Korea. Essentially mob bosses paying players to take a fall on a game, so they can collect big on their bets.
