Starfield Scheduled for Late 2021 Launch Barring COVID-Related Delays Rumour

GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb recently said during a Dealer Gaming stream that the plan for Bethesda is to follow a marketing and launch cycle for Starfield similar to that of Fallout 4. According to Grubb, there’s a 90% likelihood that the game’s going to be unveiled in full at E3, and then will launch later in the year itself. He says that that’s what Bethesda has planned right now, barring any COVID-related delays and hurdles, of course.'

From what I know absolutely nothing has been shown for this game minus maybe a logo so unless I missed something big it's not releasing anytime soon.

I'd more than welcome a 2021 release if that happens. But I want to see some actual gameplay and systems in place for the game before I get too hyped for it. Even then, I'll still probably wait until after launch to see if it runs smoothly and isn't a glitch fest.

Microsoft doesnt care if you play their games on PC. Microsoft wants you NOT playing your PS5, for as many hours as possible. Microsoft's goal is to keep that Playstation 5 of yours in standby mode as long as they can. Its literally the reason MS entered the console market.

I agree totally. My guess is they already had it running on PS5 before the buyout. Game has been in development since 2016, very likely it comes to both consoles and PC.

I must have missed something because it seemed like all of a sudden it was a bad game by bad devs. Then retroactively everything made by Bethesda was always bad and they were always bad.

Idk the most egregious thing TES devs have done to me is create bad UI meant for controllers - I can live with that I know they gotta sell the games anywhere they can. As long as the games are a fun sandbox and continue to be a platform for mods that's all I care about.

Sounds plausible enough. Todd Howard likes to reveal his games close to release. If so, the PlayStation version might also be very far along. As I said in another thread, it would make it 50/50 whether Bethesda and/or Microsoft will scrap the work.

Won't be buying it at release anyway. BGS single-player RPGs really should be seen as a blank canvas to mod into your own personal masterpiece.

I'm sure Bethesda had plans to release Starfield on PS5 before they even knew about MS buying Bethesda. If there's ever going to be an E3 type event this year, we would get more details...or on March 27th.

I been following Starfield for awhile and this is a new Bethesda IP game to have my interest as I'm a sci-fi fan. Very few concept arts have been release and while a teaser is all we got, not to be excited but intrigued is the word.

I don't know the details of Starfield production but just like Deathloop and Tokyo Wire were initially for Xbox and was made timed console exclusive to PS5, the same can possibly occur with Starfield but possible permanently exclusive. Either direction would not change the way the wind blows for me but we currently don't know.

Hype isn't the word, just intrigued. Its a new IP by Bethesda and all we got is a teaser trailer like last year and 2 screenshots to go with it. I'm not seeing any hype, just a lot of questions as to what is it exactly. All I know its a sci-fi game with spaceships and I'm a sci-fi junky lol.

What are you expecting from Starfield? A strong story component to a No Man Sky game mixed with elements from Fallout?

Just something new from Bethesda and while they ain't the top of the line developers, there games are still fun to me personally and I have over 200 hours of Skyrim playtime. Fallout games like 3 & 4 were alright. (Never bother with Fallout 76)

If its a Skyrim in space, I'll take it.

I have no problem getting hyped for games that I haven’t really seen or heard anything about. I let my imagination take me on a journey of what the game could potentially be like based on my previous experience with the developer and their games.

If the game is coming out in the next 6-9 months, as this writer claims, Sony almost assuredly already has a contract with Bethesda for the release. Getting certified for release on consoles is not a short process.

Certification is not a contract requiring a game to be released on any system. Unless Sony paid to have the game on their console, a developer can pull their game at anytime.

Oh I've seen it hyped, quite a lot too. For TES6 I can kinda get it since this is the successor to Skyrim so fans will expect bigger and better in terms of that setting. But Starfield is a new IP, we don't even know how it'll play.

Your approach is fine and makes sense considering your taste as you mentioned, but I've seen people hyping it as if we've actually got a proper trailer and gameplay videos.
