Gaming in general is more popular then ever. Both consoles and PCs are doing fantastic. Only handhelds seem a bit threatened, what with phones and tablets taking a lot of their market.

As old as Steam is it still went from 65million in Oct' 2013 - 125million Feb' 2015(Active accounts). The PS4 went from 0 in Nov' 2013 - 22million Mar' 2015.

Steam had an almost 3 times as much gain as PS4 in the same time.

Conclusion: When compared with the last data revealed by Sony and M$,,, PC win in each category.

@nyadc don't mind me I like occasionally saying non sensible things. But to be on topic PC gaming has never been dead. At one point it was dormant but never dead.

Unfortunately for the pc master race almost all of the best selling games of all time have been console exclusive, and besides the sims I can't think of one pc exclusive.

1. The best selling games are multi-plat, not exclusive

2. There are exponentially more PC exclusives than all major consoles combined. You can even combine every console ever created because PC has more every single year, regardless of console cycle.

The majority of those 20 Million bought PS4's are probably media players. except when that 1 exclusive worth having a year comes along.

Since people are acting like this is something to brag about, what exactly does it take for someone to create a steam account? Like, what are the requirements?

For example dose someone have to go out and buy a specific gaming PC ($200 X GpU, $100 x CPU $80 x ram)? Also would that PC need to be able to play all current generation games at something like PS4 level or better?

The same excuse you all use when you realise that 1 PC Multiplayer game has more concurrent players than all platform's call of duty combined.... and probaly most other lesser games on the systems combined.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with general value, interest and quality of the services in question (Game, Steam) It's all about "dat entry cost".

I mean, it can't possible be the reality that most people think those £300 dust collecting 5 year old hardware'd £50-60 DD priced "Next gen" consoles are not worth rushing out to use.
