Consoles aren't open platforms, right off the bat you should know you're giving up all your ownership when you buy one, PC on the other hand is an open platform its practically yours to do with whatever you want (if you have the resources ofcourse) I hate all DRM but I hate it the most on the PC because its the one platform that can avoid this shit yet chooses not to. Don't wowi my hermit friend, I shall return to PC Gaming and will be back circumventing DRM in no time. On the PC you can beat DRM, people just don't want to, maybe their too dumb maybe their too lazy, I don't know. I'l know more when I'm back in.

It appears there are games on PC, on Steam even, which avoid DRM; contrary to your text in bold. So, do you accept there are DRM free offerings on Steam?

dunno why you are bothering, hes anti-drm and can't even explain why drm is bad in the first place, only a very select few games have had REALLY bad DRM.

as far as he is concerned having to authenticate your games once is so intrusive that he castrates what he can play on false principles, ignores the many advantages steam brings just because of some basic anti-piracy measures.

@Lulu_Lulu yes, there are ways of not having DRM, pirating.... ironically the same cause of DRM. take that route if you need to, buy the game then play a cracked version. win win.

but no, some stupid high horsed fool that is only losing out, yet things hes superior for fighting a pointless war that was over long ago.

you will return to pc gaming without drm huh? well. have a good life, because everybody loves steam, the DRM "cons" is far outweighed by the "pros" only disgruntled morons like yourself give the slightest damn, its not lazyness or stupidity from us, its your brain fighting a battle against ghosts.

I did some googling and found about some more of steams Offline mode issues, looks like its well on its way to becoming completely online DRM. Haha.

what is this, 2004? Guess the only way peasants can make jabs at PC is to lie and use decade old info

cries about steam using as argument drm, plays on 360. LOL

Your own argument betrays you.

Mac and pc are separate platforms, they use the same forum because a mac only forum would be a ghost town. You think comparing BF 4 player count on pc to the 360 is a fair comparison? When consolites are segregated between 4 platforms?

PC & Mac are one platform on system wars

And this has no bearing on my point about player count comparisons.

Well your bitching about the console gamers being segregated when there are at most ~4 million next gen consoles available versus 160 million current gen consoles. But why does it make sense to compare 4 platforms to one platform

Because BF 4 is one of the few good games to play on the next gen consoles while all the other platforms have tons of great games to choose from. PS 3 and 360 alone are beating pc on BF 4 though.

based on what?

Currently, BF4 stats show more people on PC than any one platform. Unfortunately it doesn't give peak numbers

Not quite sure what "based on what" is specifically referring to. Of course pc is beating specific consoles, theres only 1 platform for computers while consolites are split up between 4 platforms.

yes I think your point is obvious, there are more people playing BF4 on consoles. therefore bf4 is more popular on consoles.

This is a fact, it cannot be disputed. but then as pointed out to you the multiplayer scene let alone shooters is much larger in playerbase and variety on pc. these new consoles have cod and bf and killzone... thats it.meanwhile nearly 200k people are playing ancient versions of counter-strike and the modern one, and mmos, rts, mobas ect.

and nothing has changed, the PC version is slightly ahead as it should be.... controls are much better, 1080p and higher, 60 fps, ultra settings.

i mentioned this awhile back and some hermits attacked the living hell out of me, so don't be suprised, as long as PC is highest over any 1 console they think they are in the right.

Linguistically the term "PC" has developed a dual-meaning.

1. Personal Computer - This includes Macs, consoles, smartphones, anything that's "personal" and "a computer."

2. A set of pseudo-open hardware standards created by Intel & Microsoft and their associated hardware manufacturers for the purpose of Windows efficacy, ubiquity, and compatibility

With regards to DRM;

The software industry (and content creators of all types) have struggled with supporting themselves since the beginning of recorded history.

Writers and artists in ancient Greece and Rome had to find wealthy sponsors to feed themselves while they wrote books, sculpted, painted and so forth.

In the 70's they had 8-track tapes

In the 80's they had code-wheels

In the 90's they had SecuROM and consoles

In the 2000's they had MMO's, F2P, Steam and so forth

All of these are forms of trying to monetize the work of content creators.

Back when society was still sane, we built public libraries, because we understood that books, music, video and so forth are KNOWLEDGE and CULTURE that should be available to all regardless of income. Hackers of today have a saying, "Information must be free." This has been the creedo of 2600 and Phrack, white hats, black hats and grey hats alike, it is the basis of "Copyism" as an organized religion in Sweden and all free-thinkers since the days of Adam Weishaupt.

Naturally big companies like EA and Steam have a different agenda.

The internet has blown everything wide-open and turned the world upside down, culturally and financially.

Video games have become much too specialized and labor intensive to be created by hobbyists for the common good.

Now they must be created by professionals.

Ultimately if you don't pay for content that you find valuable enough to use, the people who made that content will have no choice but to give up making it, and go flip burgers or bag groceries to avoid starvation.

As such most of us have come to accept DRM as the price of civilization (and nice graphics with high frame rates.)

BF4stats.com

Currently pc has 57k players, PS 3 has 53k and 360 has 62k. PC is so low since it's getting late Europe. But even during Europes evening the ps360 was in the lead.

All I was addressing was a person who was comparing BF 4 numbers to one console and the pc fanboys went all up in arms. Of course pc has a bigger overall mp base. PC has had mp tailored games and support for a much longer period. Console is just now starting to get dedi servers lol.

So if I run Steam OS on my PC, it's not longer a PC then since it's not running Windows. I won't be able to call it a PC either then will I? What about if I make a hackintosh? No longer a PC I guess either because it's running an OSX.
