The day I'll put the controller down is the day I'll die. I want to become a game developer and so I'll be dealing with video games with most if not all my life!lebanese_boySame here
Mostly like not,I think it's time to hang up the Joystick, after this gen im retiring from Video games.foreverflame890OUCH! That's painful to hear...

Depends on the direction the companies take next gen, if everyone becomes a wii clone and good PC games dry up them I'm out. I can't see that happening though, ive had a blast this gen. the underground and indie games have really delivered. thegoldenpooIf console gaming does have motion sensoring on all 3 consoles nextgen then I'm definitely out. I'd hate to see that more than anything. Motion sensoring is already bad enough.
The wii itself is garbage, flailing about like a person having a siezure is garbage.haimlebI also agree with this. Welcome to System Wars!
lol I don't think you'd be a street punk if you didn't play games. You'd probably just watch more Arneld films.I will game till I lose my eyesight/get both hands amputated(but maybe I could learn gaming with my toes, who knows?)/die/turn into a vegetable, I live only to game, if it weren't for games I'd proberbly become criminal or start streetfights to get whatever fix I get from games

Being in my 2nd year of my degree, gaming time is starting to take a back seat to other things, I will admit most of first year and first half of 2nd year I tried to continue my gaming habits and study around them, but it didn't work out, I made it through unharmed, but as it progressivly gets more difficult, gaming time decreases. By the time next-gen comes around, I should be finishing off my degree and/or be on to my masters/work, so I do imagine that will provide some decent play time as the schedules should be more lenient but I will see. I've liked this gen, but it hasn't really compared to last-gen by this time, assuming it doesn't go down a spiral of less and less great games every-gen I'll be okay, though MGS4 was probably my favorite game of at least last-gen and this-gen combined, so we'll see what the future holds.110millionYeah school is hard on all of us students. And once I think about it, this gen doesn't have as many great games as last gen did at the same amount of years. But that's because of how long it takes to develope games now. Okay, OKAY I'm I the only one here who plans on doing MORE gaming in the future? After I get a few things out of the way, I'll be able to get my hands on more games and play more.
ive given up already (sold my 360 and ps3 on saturday) as there is nothing that gets me excited and in all honestly am bored of it all, been gaming for the past 16 years now and had fun but now its time to go out and rejoin society.p0g0theclownThat's sad to hear.

Well I am an A student in math. I have been forever and I plan on taking Computer Science and hopefully be a game programmer.SparkyProtocolNerd
That really depends on what the industry decides to do in the future, if the casuals take over and innovation only goes by Nintendo's definition then I'm out.
Based on what I've seen the future of gaming is bland and over simplified to encourage mass appeal, I'm hoping I'm wrong but it has happened to many other entertainment mediums already.
Im more than likely be gaming if DX11 is actually good, hydra(real CF/SLI) chipset actually does what it says it will do, if windows7 is better than vista, and if the GT300(nvidia) and HD5800(ATI) see good gains in FPS and actually take advantage of DX11.Killfox
DX10 proved even if a superior technology is available and widely supported the lowest common denominators will always hold back its application.
Who can guess who the lowest common denominators are?
But seriously, I'm in college right now learning how to program & make games, but in the back of my mind...I just feel like its hopeless. Good games are overlooked, and no matter how good your game is, people will still bash it. I feel like there's just waay too much negative energy in the industry nowadays. System wars really shows it. I get depressed about this, because I'm so passionate about gaming.I don't see myself doing anything else I love "career-wise", than game developing. I have no idea how the future of gaming will be next gen. How do you guys feel about that?

Um consoles. I know. A lot of devs have even said that a lot of what the consoles are doing is just holding back a lot of the development for PC titles except for the exclusives. I still cant wait till hydra is released. I may just buy another card then.I'm sixteen years old, and the hobby has become significantly less fun in the past two years... With that being said, I am still enjoying the hell out of gaming. It saddens me that I am not having as fun as I did back in the day, but that goes for all activities, really. Yes, I do plan on gaming for some time. I don't really know what the future holds for me, but I hope there's a good amount of gaming in it. :)DeathScape666Just wait till you get to college. It becomes a lot less fun. Sure I love playing games but you dont really have as much time and dont really get to enjoy games as much. Plus money is an issue cause if you dont have money then you cant buy any games. This is all just my own opinion but my roommates find it to be true as well.
Depends on how busy I get with school, work and women. I've finally come to realize that gaming is nothing but a hobby and the rest of my life is much more of a priority right now.foxhound_foxThis. Slowly and surely I've cut gaming back to once or twice a week for an hour or two. It sure isn't worth dropping $1200 on two systems next gen that is for sure. I will probably just play the games I missed on the PS3/360 for a year or two in to next gen before deciding which one to buy (If any). By that time I will be finishing law school/being a lawyer, so who knows if I will game. This gen could very easily be my last.
Games (of all kind, not just video games) are my hobby, my profession, and my passion. I couldn't give it up.goblaa
Same here, gaming is too much fun to give up.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Gaming should always be a hobby. It's like movies or music, or any other form of entertainment. The problem is, some people become addicted, then they feel the need to "kick the habit", thus they just give it up.BioShockOwnz
Oh, you'll find time. Most likely, you and your future significant other will have different schedules, therefore always leading to some downtime here and there. I know that's how it works for me. Plus, it's never good to spend every moment together, because it's nice to keep things fresh in the beginning.
This. I grew up on Atari and the NES. I stopped gaming for a few years in my early 20's and then when I got married in 2005, I bought a PSP. Since then I have bought every console. My wife has played many an hour with me on games such as Oblivion, Warhawk, Mortal Kombat, and many others. I found time for games while being newly married and finishing my masters. However, it was always just a hobby. It was also something my wife and I did together which was great. We now have a 6 month old daughter so games take up less time however we still spend a few hours on Warhawk. As long as its just a hobby, you should have time for it.My entire life, I've always wanted to be a successful game dev. I mean, I was an undercover nerd. I played sports, & hung out , hit on girls and everything, but at the end of the day, I was at home, gaming it up.Want advice? Stop giving a damn what other people say about something you took part in..
