Still not convinced the Wii is stronger than the first Xbox

Games like Halo 2, Doom 3, Conker, Crimson Skies, etc. All look better than 99% of Wii games.

I know you sheep will say the devs aren't utilzing the hardware but its been almost 3 years since the Wii released and Xbox STILL has better graphics and it came out in 2001.

The Wii is only about 3 1/2 years old...give the Wii 5 more years, then make your decision. In the meantime, let the Wii have it's moment of glory.:P

To the topic creator: If your not convinced, then don't make a thread expecting to be deemed otherwise. While we are on the same page I can just as easily say I am not convinced the Xbox 360 is better than its predecessor the Xbox due to library of games I cherish more on the older one than the new, or even suffice to say that the PS3 is also not better than its own predecessor due to the fact it lacks the rpg/jrpg library amongst other genres that the PS2 is known well for.

If you find what I just said to be stupid, then I am merely showing you the results of what you sowed.

I still think Doom 3 on Xbox looks overall visibly better than Metroid Prime 3.

It's the amazing dynamic lighting and shadows that does it for me personally.

At its current price point Nintendo probably has a ridiculous profit margin. With more powerful hardware, allowing for ports of HD platform games, they could still be profitable, without denying their customers access to a much larger and varied library ...

The xbox has the upper hand in some cases as it uses DirectX api's so devs could wrap round it much quicker and if PC was a lead platform it would reap the benefits i loved the xbox the porting of outrun 2 to the xbox was possibly one of the most amazing ports from arcade to a console since time crisis 1 even tho the hardware was far weaker it really strut its stuff and held up true to the actual arcade game.

The wiis been floundering as dev's dont take it as seriously as they should which is a shame only a few have took good cracks at wii games mainly japanese devs like capcom who done the 2 RE on rails shooters which i really enjoyed and it fit well with the wii as a console overall tbh.If dev's could do better jobs and approach the wii with the wii and the gamer in mind of only just shovelling crap on it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Wii has the edge in the CPU department.

Wii has a clear advantage in the RAM department.

Xbox wins in the GPU department.

Nintendo decided to go for a very basic GPU for the Wii and that has held the visuals back somewhat, the GPU in the Xbox can produce more advanced effects.

this is what keeps the Xbox in contention with a console that is on paper more powerful.

Well, this "GC with motion controls" is used basically because of the hardware that the Wii has, not because of the extra features like SD card or online capability.

Wow people suck at comparing screen shots, Its definatly stronger, I remember a lot of games looking great last-gen too until you play them again. Thats not to say there are no XBOX games that look better than any Wii game, because the Wii has plenty of low budget games that look bad. But the Wii's graphically pleasing titles are better than anything on XBOX, these tiny screen shots people use to compare hide a lot of faults. If you stretch both to actual resolutions, it would become much more obvious. 110million
