Don't be condescending with me. I've played all of the big-name FPS games on every platform. I've even re-purchased some of those games for the 360 (see sig), and Halo 3 rivals each and every one.

I agree, FPS are my second favorite genre (great mix in with RPG, which are typically overly slow in design).

I've played the best the genre has to offer, and I still consider Halo as a franchise to rank up with the others.

Halo might not compete in the graphics department, but any mature unbiased gamer would probably see that Halo is as much FUN as the best on the PC. And last time I checked, FUN is what really makes a game great or not.

Halo is far more than just average fun, and thus I'd say it's far more than just an average FPS when compared to the PC library.

There are several games in the PC canon that are not as fun as Halo, but are regarded by hermits as being far superior.

4 player co-op on Halo 3 is some of the most fun I've had in quite some time. It's easily as much fun as i had w/ Half Life 2 or any Unreal game on PC.

Any game as popular as Halo is going to have a huge target on it's head.

Notice though, how the haters all say it's overrated and average, but NONE of them can give any detailed objective arguments as to why the game is so inferior to the best shooters on the PC. All they can say is that it's only average.

As a hardcore shooter fan, I'm proud to be a Halo fan and ashamed of other PC gamers who bash Halo, although a lot of these "pc gamers" are probably just fans of other consoles.

If you don't believe the standards are different then I don't know what to tell you. Halo 1 wouldn't have gotten as high, the PC had been seeing games with the same type of gameplay before Halo. For Halo 2, the PC was already seeing games with amazing multiplayer. It revolutionized console FPS. PC users were already seeing what it was giving, consoles players weren't.

Ok, the vast majority of console gamers can't even afford that luxury. You can also connect a PC to a projector if you want, it's just that the majority of people don't feel the need to do that.

You need to go back three years to try and win this argument? I'm not saying different standards haven't ever existed; indeed they have in the past. But these days, no, the standards are essentially the same.

You seriously think that Halo 3 would've been scored the same if it came out on PC instead of 360? A part of the reason it got such high scores is because of the dumbed-down map editor Forge and the saved films feature, innovative for consoles, but neither of which would really make much of an impact in the PC gaming world. Halo 3 on PC would be likened to a Tribes 2, a good game no doubt, just not terribly special.

That has played thru Halo 3, it really offers me nothing I haven't seen before in the previous Halos...

but it's great game... just nothing special though.

Most of the people who say Halo 3 is an average FPS are Sony fanboys who are angry that MGS4 or Killzone 2 or even Final Fantasy XIII will never be like that, and that the PS3 will never recover it sales or sell any more even with MGS4 or Killzone 2 or Final Fantasy XIII, and Microsoft's sales ahve boosted because of Halo 3, I mean look at Japan (though the 360 still isn't doing that well there) and people have bought the 360 for Halo 3 too. So yea its mainly Sony fanboys who are jelaous and know that MGS4, Killzone 2 and FFXIII will never be like it.gamefreakwill

Or it could be people that really just don't find anything new within the game mechanics. I feel that the game is bland and sterile in it's enviorments, not even close to one of the best looking games yet. I find that when I shoot something in the game it doesn't feel like I am really hitting anything and the story is all over the place along with the enemy AI and the completely incompetent ally AI just adds to my woes. I play games on Normal and rarely play through twice, the reason is because a) Normal is the status quo and b) there are a crap load or other games to play.

And no the multiplayer doesn't do it for me. I prefer my CS and now I am really into TF2. Halo 3 is an average game and if I could spend 10 million dollars are marketing a game I could make it sell very well too(The Matrix game anyone????).
