Imagine you have a map where one side is trying to get to a capture point in a large city, at one spot the defending team destroys a line of buildings, and then takes cover in the the multistory buildings behind that line. Now the advancing team's cover is essentially destroyed, and the defending team has basically set up a kill zone that the attackers would get slaughtered trying to move through.

or as in BC2 on Rush many of the MCOM stations are inside destructable buildings. attacking teams often just load up on RPGs and 40mm grenade launchers and rather than arm the MCOM they just bring the building down on top of it. cheap or what?

Seeing how they can take a lot of damage in BC2, it really isn't that effective. BC1 maybe since they were weak in that game, but I doubt they are going back to that and make it more like that. Just arming is better because it saves time. And grenade launchers barely even do damage.:?

Destroying the building is the best way, if it's in one, in which most aren't half the time.

This thread makes me wonder... BF3 is coming out for Wii U. And DICE was gloating at Nintendo's E3 Press Conference that the system could easily handle Frostbite 2... Will the Wii U version use it?

I would love to see some developer make a mp game with full on destruction with vehicles and objectives and see how many people like it. I bet many would get pissed and rate quit because unless you are in say a tank, you would get destroyed.

It's hard to have full destruction in a totaly urban enviroment. It's not the engine that got nerfed. Like in a city that would mean they would have to model EVREY buidling 100%, inside and out. Think about it, that's a looooooooaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddd of extra polygons and textures, and probably current systems just aren't powerful enough to do all of this right now. Probably you will have buidlings that will be modeled 100% and will be fully destructable, but definatly not all of them.

From what I read, you can blow out every wall and rooftop in every building - you just can't blow out the steel-frames.

So you can blow huge holes in any story of a tall building - you can also blow out the walls, floors and ceilings on every single floor of a huge building - the only thing that will remain are the steel frames.

Sounds fine to me!

I don't mind it. You know how upsetting it is in BFBC2 to have the other team sit back with a tank to take down a building with a Mcom ? That gets really annoying.

I don't really care to be honest none of the previous legit Battlefields even had destructible environments and we all got by in 1942 to 2142. People just like to whine more then anything it seems.
