@drinkerofjuice: Like I said, I have no problem with the word being used if you make a valid argument and support it in a way that shows us HOW its overrated, even if I may disagree. Simply stating "it is" overrated doesn't make it a compelling argument. These kinds of arguments are the main ones you see on forums that generally are supported by dislike of the game, or not liking the game as much as something else. Again, this is just simply incorrect use of the word. I'm not saying you did that at all, just speaking in general. At least you're describing (albeit surface level) examples of why your experience of the game does not match the reviews and hype surrounding it. I'd rather see posts like that than __________[insert RPG here] SUCKED and is SO OVERRATED bc I liked ________________ [insert RPG here] more and nothing is better than this game!!!!
Also, as Champ said, gamers I know around here and in real life have some fucking awful taste, to where any praise or criticism they give to any game is taken with an Everest of salt.
"Overrated", more like "Not for me" (except yearly rehashes).
Or in several cases, actually overrated. For example, I like GTA 4 (an example I already used in this thread), so technically it IS for me, but I don't think it's good enough to be one of the highest rated games of all time, which it unfortunately is. Not even close.

Also, not directing this at you but it's possible to like a game and still think it's overrated. Shocking, I know.
Yes, overrated and underrated are terms used way the **** too often. And yes, these terms are usually just lazy knocks from people who can't seem to properly articulate their beef with a game.
But it's not as if the terms aren't applicable at times. Plenty of mediocre games go balls out on marketing, generating a massive hype machine, fooling gamers into singing high praises for games that just aren't all that. Sometimes an average ass game is just riding on brand name alone. On the flip side, plenty of straight up gems fly under the radar.
