Doesn't have to be that way. Capcom messed it up time after time. 3D didn't make those games suck compared to the older ones... Capcom did. :|

Never going to work, no matter how hard you convince yourself. The game just doesn't work well in 3D.

I don't need to convince myself. It's not a concept that so hard thatI would need to convince myself.
It being 3D wasn't what made them relatively bad, you can make 3D games retain the exact pacing and gameplay. If it doesn't translate it's not the dimension addition, it's poor development.

I disagree, it's impossible for Street Fighters core game mechanics to work in 3D. You can't jump over your enemy smoothly in 3D without having the camera bounce around (look at DBZ:T) the speed and areas where you punch and kick change, and just the over-all speed of the game. Somethings just can't be done well in 3D that is intended for 2D and vice versa. If you are refering to 2.5D then I'll agree with you, but 3D perspective such as say Tekken, can't happen. I mean they could make a solid 3D fighting game easily, but not one that feels and most of all plays like Street Fighter. I've only seen a small handful of 2D to 3D transitions that do such things, even 14 years later.
Though I would like to say that it's more then likely that Capcom is probably reinventing the wheel for this title. I mean they wouldn't bump this up just to have a rehash.

I'm talking about doing the game in 3D but on a 2D plane (or as some say "2.5D"), the only camera movement would be panning. The speed is all up to the developer, you can make 3D games carry the same pacing as a 2D game.

It is going to be 2D, the only thing hey are reinventing is the fighting system as they always have with each Street Fighter

Those games are horrible. :| (Assuming you mean Maximum Impact)

Oh I see, that can definately be done then. I was refering to a 3D persepetive. I mean no game has done the things I've said, not even "Devil May Cry" (you use lock-on for everything and perspective is always arkward) and others. Anything 2D can do 3D can do, and vice versa for 3D to 2D, it's just a matter of how well each of them do them. I mean an example for this would be the simple one button hit combat is a blast in Castlevania 2D series, but for 3D games the whole "one hit slash" thing doesn't work. Personally I think Capcom will go 2D with this because it's what the fans, steam gamers, and by telling people this I assume the casuals want.

One doesnt need to provide a link, only common sense.
I'm sure Capcom knows what they are doing. They can make is a great 3d fighter if they try.
Tingle-Tuner
They can make a great one, but not an excellent one.
Street Fighter is made to be in 2D, that is what makes it timeless
