"Super" HD.

aroxx_ab

I have no clue wtf he means either.

Super high definition =higher than 1080p?

He's not crazy, I've heard of SuperHD myself. From what I read on the internet (internet never lies). Is that Sony was testing a new resolution, and I'm pretty sure it was called "SuperHD". I"m sure it was a codename. Anyways, from what I read it was making people sick if they watched it to long.

It was about a year ago when I read it. But who knows, maybe that was the prototype of 4k.

What the hell are you talking about?

Riadon2

Console go by TV standard... not Monitors.

2K = 2048x1080, which is barely higher than 1080p.

4K is just not going to happen, too high for consoles and almost no one will have a 4k TV.

So you think there will be a 1440p HDTV on the market ?

I am sure they will be at least somewhat mainstream by the time that PS5/Next-nextbox release.  Remember how long this gen lasted, and next gen might last even longer.

I don't believe that 1440p will make it to TV's. I don't think I've ever seen a 1440p TV.

Yeah, there is also an 8k projector and an 8k pdp display.

Another big step is audio, 22.2 surround sound.

Well his loss, no 4K or 8K TVs for him. :P Also I think it's 70fps as for the resolution the human eye it's the equivalent of 576  megapixels. (I had to look that up) :P

The human eye can register FPS up to 220 frames a second but its the brain that perceives the motion.

Yes, because we detect sarcasm at the binary level.

Face it, if someone doesn't know you, and you give absolutely no indication that you are sarcastic, you will be perceived as serious.

It's not like there aren't plenty of idiots who spout sh!t like that.

The 1080p part is actually kinda right. Between screen size, viewing distance and the fact most people don't have perfect 20/20 vision, the average 1080p home theatre is already at "retina" quality and wouldn't see any tangible benefit from upgrading to 4K. Never mind whether that miniscule improvement would be worth shelling out for a whole new TV.

Panavision are also making knock ups of 70mm digital cameras

>>Link<<

No ware near as in-dev as the one you pictured, ergo no specific resolution specs, but I can imagine it being pretty high... I mean REd put out their future timeline chart a few years back, adn their 70mm cam was allegedly going to be 28k

I'd hate to be 1st AC with a sensor that size on a low light shoot though XD

I think that was an early prototype, I've seen 8K cameras that look the same as a normal TV camera aside from SUPERHD plastered on the side. For me, I'm used to having someone either controlling the iris from the truck or myself on the camera. I prefer controlling it myself but I've gotten shouted at in the past for making the my camera look different from the rest :P

The amount of "frames" that we can see depends on lighting conditions. Our eyes work like a camera shutter not a tv screen that shows a fixed amount of images. Depending on the lighting situation we will be able to smoothly interpret 60+fps and sometimes we can't.

I own a 120 FPS monitor, and the only time I cannot tell the difference between 60 and 120 FPS is when the screen is pitch black (ie, I can't see anything at all), or the game doesn't support higher than 60 FPS.

Yes and no. Your brain is perceiving the motion. The higher your FPS, the smoother the motion. To gain any benefit of above 60FPS you will obviously need a 120Hz monitor as you have. If you sit down and watch a 60Hz set vs a 120Hz, the motion of the 120Hz set will be smoother as the screen will refresh 120 times a second as opposed to 60 times a second.

[QUOTE="clyde46"] It was taught as part of my degree. Its better to actually understand what you are claiming. clyde46

So I guess I just imagine the fluidity, then?

I know all of this.  The guy claimed that lighting conditions could make 60 fps indistinguishable from 120 fps.

When talking about cameras, how much light is hitting the film or sensor does have an affect on the framerate. I'm not too sure if it has the same affect on our eyes even though they do share a lot of similarities with a camera.

The guy posted an assumption.  There was no link posted to back up the assumption.  I disagree with the assumption, having actually played games at above 60 FPS.

Thats pretty much all I need to get across.
