Super mario Galaxy is the best game this generation.

I agree 100% with SMG being the best game of this generation (GTA IV is second imo), but I think there's a lot of people on these boards that will disagree plenty.

SMG didn't have the "magic" for me, it just wasn't fun. I lost all interest in the game after about the 3rd or 4th boss...

Easily the worst 3D mario platformer if you ask me.

I wouldn't make a topic about it saying its the best game this gen because some people will disagree.

This entire thread was a joke right? To say that SMG THE best game this generation is stupid, there are too many other amazing masterpieces this gen followed by great games to delcare one "the best" over the other. Tell me how SMG is more a masterpiece than Half-Life 2: Episode 2 or Portal,... you can't and vise versa.

Its definitely gotten more critical acclaim than any other exclusive this gen. I wouldn't call it the best gem this gen but it's definitely up there. It would have been so much better with a regular controller.Zero5000X

one of my highest regarded games this gen(i still like MGS4 more).

Words alone can't say how beatiful this game really is.

Note to haters- Mario is alive and kicking, and Miyamoto haven't fell off yet.

I really do think Galazy is one of the greatest games this gen, but I havea hard time saying it is the best so far. For me, the greatest game is often the one I am enjoying at the moment, so right now it is De blob, a few days ago it was Gears of war. Heck, I was even really enjoying the force unleashed a few weeks ago!

Both have a point, a game should drag you from the beginning, and SMG didn't do that really well, i remember played for an hour the first time, and i was like, meh, nothing too fancy here, but IMO the game really shines in later levels, specially the Toy Galaxy (IMO the best in the game), still, i'm completely agree with you that if a game doesn't like you, just, doesn't like you, no matter what everybody says.

Nope. There are better ones out there and they don't have MARIO in the title ;)

Yoshi's Island is better than all of those. Using 64 in the same sentence as best platformer ever is fail. It's definitely up for discusion since 64 is terrible compared to Galaxy.

Oh yah, it was better than 3. Yoshi's island's level design andgameplay flow is better than mario 3. Way more encouragement to explore, longer levels, lack of lazy design in spots and easy to play, good difficulty and level selection was better than mario 3. Despite that, mario 3 is still tied with world for second best in the series.
