Im in love with SMG. SMG claims OWNAGE over wii graphics haters :)groudyogre

Ownage on what? Tiles look plastic, while the details look like something drawn from a marker pen (grass)~based on those videos. Not a graphic revolunary on any consoles. The game itself feels great though. 8.2-8.5 is my prediction.

I feel like im missing out on these types of games. I just don't get the buzz when i look at these types of games. It looks nice, for a Wii game however when i see stuff like this with all the bright colors i think of N64/Gamecube. I look at that kind of game and i think yes that looks fun about 5 years ago.

I'm not just slagging off Mario either, R&C doesn't do anything for me. I won't be getting Banjo for my 360. I'm not saying they are for kids, but maybe i have outgrown these types of games. I'm not keen on animation films either e.g Shrek. Perhaps i'm just getting too old for stuff like this.

NavigatorsGhost

When you get older, these visuals become even more appealing. This is spectacualr.

nah, it looks kiddie. Mario 64 with shiny graphics and sphere-based maps.

 I feel really sorry for you.

You have no idea do you on how big this is, right?

You have been so seperated from color that you can't tell the difference between an N64 and a Wii game. Sad. This is just as amazing as the CGI Killzone trailer because it's real and it's for Wii.

Kiddie comment, pathetic. Since you need your gun games to look mature, go ahead.

This game is going to be a huge hit, definite AAA on IGN, seeing how GS is getting more leinant *sp?* I think this game now has a definite shot at AAA here.

just goes to show how good this game is when thats the best fanboys can come up with to bash it, lol try harder.

Is Nintendo making this game? :|

I have never seen Nintendo do anything truly cinematic in ANY game. They will get some cool camera angles, and some nice effects, but HOLY S***! Nintendo can't be making this game :|

This is such an "out of nowhere" video that it's just.... wow! The only complaint people now have for it is that it's kiddy. WOW! Good argument guys! I feel ashamed for liking Mario now! :(

so... who is making this game?

Little bit too much hyperbole in this thread. Mario games usually provide a decent bit of challenge and the red coins are really tough to get but they aren't mature games by any stretch. The storytelling, art design, and gameplay are aimed squarely at children. That there are many adults interested in this doesn't change that fact.

I'm pretty insecure IRL so there is no way I'll play SMG. I'll stick to games like Halo 3 so people will take me more seriously because my image is defined by video games. Playing Halo 3 automatically makes you a more mature person, and saying things like "SMG is for kids, only kids would play that" also makes you moresophisticated in the eyes of society. Anyway, I just wanted you all to know how adult and cool I was for not wanting to play SMG.

"Every hundred years a comet passes over the Mushroom Kingdom and rains down magical stars and stardust, and as Princess Peach and the citizens of the kingdom are celebrating the centennial event, Bowser and his legions attack. As Mario attempts to put a stop to Bowser's shenanigans, but things go awry: the next thing he knows, he finds himself on a mysterious moon high above the Mushroom Kingdom."

that is all we know. Mario games have always been about the actual game, not the story. But, it's nice to see REALLY apealing cinimatics in the game!

Speaks the truth. The only ones saying that it is kiddy is the 13 year olds who think they are bad a$$ as then enter into puberty.

Indeed. My 9 year old nephew and his 8 year cousin are oblivious to any of the Nintendo stuff I got and are always talking about playing GTA and how the PSP is cooler than the DS cuz it graphics are teh cool. They sound a bit like teh "mature" fanboys here bashing Nintendo stuff. Same comments out of these fanboys here are things I hear spouted from little children mouths who think they are cool. Says alot about these haters.

nintendo aim there products at 8 year old boys....well with the wii most of that might have changed with some of its games but i doubt that demographic will have changed any with its games like mario...

some people here who still find Mario interesting who are above those ages just dont like the idea of them being labeled as kiddie just because they still like what Nintendo offers.which is fair do's but to flame other's because they point that out just shows how insecure they are...

I'm tempted to say that this game could go AAAA--at least with the new scoring system. It looks simply amazing, and the graphics are excellent (not just "by Wii standards"). I see haters trying to play it off as a kiddie game or rehash... pretty sad to hear that it's come to this.

You keep bringing up the Kiddie issue. Like the other 3 people in the thread who bashed, out of all 13+ pages of this thread. That's your opinion.

Sure, this game has a kiddy artstyle. But wether or not, it's not directly supposed to appeal to kids, it appeals to everyone. The artstyle is amazing, even if it uses bright colors and stuff. But it won't change the fact that the game is going to be amazing.

Why is it my loss? Ever heard of preferences or different tastes? I don't enjoy playing kid-friendly games, I had enough of those when I played NES, SNES, and N64.

nintendo aim there products at 8 year old boys....well with the wii most of that might have changed with some of its games but i doubt that demographic will have changed any with its games like mario...

some people here who still find Mario interesting who are above those ages just dont like the idea of them being labeled as kiddie just because they still like what Nintendo offers.which is fair do's but to flame other's because they point that out just shows how insecure they are...

Just turned 35 the 28th of September. Wife and Kids picked me up Halo 3 and Bioshock and I will proudly place this game next to them on my shelf along with Metroid Prime 3 which I thought was amazing. Not as amazing as Halo 3 but close.

Little bit too much hyperbole in this thread. Mario games usually provide a decent bit of challenge and the red coins are really tough to get but they aren't mature games by any stretch. The storytelling, art design, and gameplay are aimed squarely at children. That there are many adults interested in this doesn't change that fact.

maybe they don't realize that halo is kiddy aslo due to its bright and colorful scifi comic art style. we are all "teh kiddy!" mario galaxy is going to be so much fun!

So yeah, was I the only one who thought the water looked amazing? This is easily the best looking Wii game, and rivals some 360 games.

There was a hermit (That's right, a hermit) on this thread that said he was actually impressed.

I'm not hating here cause I'll be buying this game but what do you do with the wiimote. From the videos it looks as though you press A to jump, but not much else.

You wiggle the Wiimote to do a spin. This makes your jumps last longer and also can destroy objects and collect stuff. You also aim it at the screen to pick up little stars and stun enemies or Mario. You can also do co-op with it. One person controls Mario and another one uses the pointer to stop enemies or Mario and collect things.

you shake the wiimote to do a spin attack.

theres a star cursor on the screen that you use to interact with the environment.

and from the looks of that manta ray video, you'll have to tilt the wiimote to control the ray (and that star ball thingy)

other than that, nothing else is known.

If SMG is kiddy, then put a binky in my mouth because I'll be playing the heck out of SMG.
