It depends on the case and what kind of surface the PC sits on.. You wouldn't want it face down sucking up carpet, and not all cases have the bottom vent

My PC doesn't even have a bottom vent at all. It has a side fan that blows in cool air to both the PSU and the GPU.. PSU has been going strong for 6 years. If you face it down and the PC sits on thick carpet, it won't generate any air at all..

Well the PSU isn't blowing hot air on the computer, the GPU might be blowing hot air onto the PSU

Both the GPU and the PSU suck air in through the fans, not blow it out.. The PSU has a vent that goes out through the back of the case that exhausts

that's interesting my gpu and psu both exhaust.

though really i feel like my gpu mostly just circulates air.

Yes, i realize. Although, depending on the GPU cooling, the fan will intake air but not expel it from the case so the warmed air comes from the GPU to the PSU. Facing up the PSU will be drawing in warm air from inside the case

Not necessarily. Like I said, it depends on the case and how the airflow is designed..Many have a side fan blowing air directly in to the PSU or another solution. These days there are tons of different effective designs

Considering he appears to be running a X79 chipset motherboard, it's pretty much a given that he has a nice CPU

Considering you cant see his CPU its not a given, like I said, ill assume he was talking about the heatsink, after all its glowing and looks nice.

X79 boards only use the 2011 socket which is only for a series of high end i7's. lostrib is right, it is a given the CPU is nice. Verdict is still out on what @Ballroompirate meant though...

Understood, but you are missing the point, the poster said he has a nice CPU ( which I never said he didnt ) I pretty much corrected him to let him know that he must be talking about the heatsink because you cannot see the CPU, im not sure why you guys go to his motherboard and then start talking about how good his processor is all of a sudden, I dont doubt that he has a good processor, but the motherboard and cpu is a totally different story.
