SW hype system is broken, We should have a new Rule for hyping games.

Only fanboys should have a right to hype a certain game from their chosen console. eg. Only lemmings should hype Halo 3.

I think its stupid that SW votes a certain game to be hyped AAA/AA/A then only the fanboy of the game's console/company gets owned. Example is Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction is being hyped AA by the cows while the haters hype it AAA so that it would have a high chance of flopping.

We all know the biggest number of fanboys here are lemmings while Cows has the smallest number. Thats why I propose that every hype thread should have a master list of the fanboys thathave the right to vote and the ones who arent on the list arent counted.

Every user here at SW should sign up and choose what kind of fanboy he/she is. Even manticores should choose a side. No fakeboys, SW knows whos the cow, lem, hermit and sheep. And no users should be allowed to vote who are level 5 and below.

I made this thread because I didnt hype Lair nor did I say its a AA game. But SW voted for me and now I have been owned. I think its freaking dumb.

I see your point and agree. However, has any given game been "mishyped"? Lair being a prime example was most certainly and properly hyped AA.

If you could give examples of games that were not hyped properly I would be onboard.

AAAA - hyping a game to be this is a death wish

AAA- ambitious to hype a game 9.0 or above on GS but its possible

AA- the likely outcome for games that look great here

A- Fail, good idea maybe, maybe even good screens and trailers, but content doesn't play or run well

the truth is that gamespot are now a just a spot in the industry constantly giving lower scores to games than other sites ,does that mean they are better because they do so? No, people who seek perfection are fools because there's nothing perfect ,everything and i mean everything has imperfections even if really small ones, but hey that's the way i see things.

There's another thing, games like shenmue got 7.8 here and is still in my opinion one of the greatest games i've ever played and i played tons of great games. People shouldn't trust gamespot so much especially when that will make them miss so many great games, and that's what makes me sad, that's why i think they shouldn't e so harsh with their reviews.

Let me ask you something. Have you ever actually felt bad because you overhyped a game? I don't think so. When a game flops, its hypers have two reactions: 1. "It's fun anyway" which may or may not be true. 2. "wow, I'm disappointed" they're sad that they don't get a good game, not that they predicted the wrong score.

Let's face it, hype is made for the people who didn't hype the game because they enjoy laughing at those who did.

You claim that we dont have anything to play.... right now im playing awesome game thats Warhawk... same score as Metroid Flop 3 :P Cows also get UT3 soon, and by the look of vids, its MP will be so much better than Halo 3.

No. The rule of the hype thread is to be honest. you can't tell who's a cow and who is a lemming. Maybe people think this game will get a AAA.

Nothing to play on PS3? dont make me laugh. We Cows are enjoying Tekken 5 online and Warhawk right now while you sheep have already finished Metroid Flop 3 after like 15 to 20 hrs. :lol: While warhawk($40) and tekken($30) has infinite hrs of gameplay and fun.

Not a bad idea in theory but it would be too difficult to pull off. There will always be sad people who abuse the system but overall that games that deserve the hype get it.You just have to accept Lair whether you hyped it or not because that is just the way it is. I have only seen one game that really didn't deserve the hype status it got but I think cow desperation for a AAA title is setting in (HS). I blame cows more for setting themselves up for failure more than I blame abusers of the system.I think if Ratchet ends up AAA we have a problem.

The effect you describe is TOTALLY countered.

Fanboys on the system the game is on always UNDER RATE the game to try and play it safe.

Fanboys on other systems OVERRATE it, either to try and make it flop or because they recognise the other fanboys are playing it safe.

And then it balances out.

In summary, the hype system as it is, works.

Well we all know you'd be able to hype games under the new system, but what about me? I'm no fanboy. Should I be denied the right to hype? Or even if we go off of preference, okay I'm a Nintendo fan before MS and Sony... does that mean I'm not allowed to hype games I'm anticipating on my 360?
