and recently..ps1 sold 18.9 Million

quite a rebound from the WiiU. the ps5 has no chance as it seems every new console sony releases is the opposite and goes down in sales.

its only been 4 years and already beat sony's best from the last decade.

Consoles are sold in more than one country and you don't even live in Japan. Nintendo simply can't compete with Sony on a worldwide level.

Tell us something we don't know already. Of course the Switch is dominating Japan, nothing new about it but to say kudos for Nintendo making a better fun console than Wii U. The Wii U was truly forgettable.

Nintendo ain't beating Sony in America. PS5 is the fastest selling console in history and has been sold out for 6 months and counting. Just imagine if Sony could meet the full demand, Switch would be dead everywhere but Japan.

PS1/2/3 were all unique in their own ways from a different era but for PS4, not much of an innovation going for but still wouldn't say I like it over Switch as I have both consoles mind you. The Switch is doing its own thing and so is PS4.

Are you playing dumb or actually dumb? PS5 sold more in its first 5 months than the Switch did. The only reason the Switch can currently sell more in a month is because the PS5 is sold out. Sony can only sell as many PS5's as they can produce. God, I feel like I'm talking to a wall.

The Japanese had a falling out with consoles in a time that cups the PS2's lifetime sales. I have no doubt it'll beat PS2 in lifetime sales when narrowed to just Japan. Worldwide lifetime sales on other hand... doubtful, though not because it is not popular, but shortages in needed manufacturing components either caused by cryotomining or covid or both, whatever, that'll be the tough one.

The PS5 outselling the Switch in the first 5 months despite costing $200 more is a fact. The PS5 being sold out everywhere worldwide is a fact. Japan is no longer a big enough console market for it to turn the tide of the worldwide shellacking Sony continues to put on Nintendo. It seems that not many grown men want to sit around playing with Princess Peach happy meal toys in the rest of the world.

In a few years, I think it will surpass PS2 sales in Japan. With the likes of Zelda, Mario and Pokemon, the market will always be there. Plus, Super Nintendo World theme park opened this year, which will help bolster Switch sales in Japan. There's potential when it opens in the USA.

I don't own a Switch, but maybe one day I might get it just to play Shin Megami Tensei V - can't believe it's only a Switch exclusive :(

It is the best selling game system imo in japan. A lot of people bought ps2 for the DVD player.

The Switch is literally competing now though. It has almost 80 million units sold as of December 31 of last year, and this year is looking to be even bigger than last year. Like the Switch sold 27.39 million units from December 31 2019 to December 31 2020. No PlayStation console is ever touching that in a year EVER. Don't be delusional.
