J/k it was in that extreme test after 3,600 hours and might not even be permanent.
I really do not understand the purpose of this video as most Switch users will most likely never experience OLED burn-in. Also, is the concern over OLED burn-in is quite alarmist?
Only six months?😱I predicted this happening within a year n a half to two years of use.
6 months of leaving it on a static screen
Hey now, maybe that's how he normally uses his game systems
Call me in a year n half when we begin seeing this from teenagers playing their Fartnite.
This is also affected by the display's brightness. If you have brightness way, up burn-in will happen quicker.
OLED tech has come a long way in the last decade. Burn in takes much longer and is, in some cases, recoverable, but it is still an inevitable side effect of the technology.
I doubt many people will see this happen under normal use conditions. We'll see in a few years.

A lot of people don't understand the tech and think that every OLED panel will burn in from regular usage in it's normal lifetime, or in the case of particularly misinformed people, very early in that lifetime.

Case in point
Like I said, I have two OLED TVs and multiple OLED phones.... none have shown any burn-in over the years. I have not worried about it. However, I am looking to upgrade my main PC monitor to a QD OLED soon and that will be the true test for me as there will be the same static elements from menus and tool bars that will regularly be on screen for extended periods.

This test was done with max brightness. It was pretty much the worst case. Average people will probably get 6,000-10,000 hours.

I saw that, but I don't have Dell Premier access and I need it shipped to Canada.
Props to wolfden for sacrificing a perfectly good switch oled for this pointless experiment lol
For real I remember he gave an update after leaving it on for over a month straight and nothing happened, I guess he achieved his goal lol
Not a pointless experiment. The money he made from views more than makes up the cost of the Switch OLED that he 'sacrificed'. Well played by him.
Lol at hardwenzen redemption. He couldn't stop talking crap about the switch oled and he ended up wrong as usual. 6 months at max brightness on a static image and he finally gets some burn in. Total time of over 3600hours.
As someone who only plays at 1/4 or less brightness and never for thar long, this just tells me I won't need to worry about it.

Since you're at it, why not just stop using it all together? That way there's zero chance of getting any burn ins.

Oh boy this guy really does not get it.....weird.
@boiled-hotdug: AW3423DW just went up for sale in Canada and I ordered one. Finally, I can view my ultrawide and not feel bad every time after using my LG C9 OLED. LOL
OLED FTW!
Let me know how it is! I'm holding out at the moment since I'm planning on moving out of state in the coming weeks
@boiled-hotdug: For sure, It is supposed to ship out tomorrow and arrive on the 15th. Free shipping and I did end up getting a 10% discount. So, it ended up being $1,479.86 CAD before taxes. Not as good as the premier deal in the US, but that one was not available to me. Ultrwaide OLED has been the dream for many years. :)

Nice. I'm very interested in the detailed reviews and burn in tests on this baby. I'm hoping my local shops get it some time this month or next month.
Also most $980 dell premiere orders were cancelled (mine included lol). E-mail cited pricing error. Small % of lucky basterds got it tho.
@BassMan:
Hardwenzen is a broke jealous idiot/fanboy who does not understand the technology, so frankly would not listen to him on this (or anything really). Dude games on only one system and tries to find reasons to **** on everything else...kinda pathetic if you ask me.
On a separate but related note, man I am so tempted by the Alienware QD OLED. If I know it would be coming out so soon and at such a low price (for first gen tech) I would have waited for that rather than springing for my 48 C1 this black friday. As nice as the C1 is, I am sure the QD OLED screen will be a bit better, plus a 48 as a monitor is a little cumbersome sometimes while 34 inch is perfect as a monitor. Totally understand you though, I used to go between my OLED TV and my VA TV and my VA monitor, and just felt like I was missing out when watching on the the VA panels. And don't even get me started on VA black smear...Anyway, hope you enjoy the Alienware, I am sure its a nice upgrade from whatever monitor you may have now. Super curious to learn how it measures and etc as well (waiting on HDTV Test and Rtings for their scientific ish reviews)

Once I get the place setup, I'll send you some pics on how it all turns out.
I'm trying to finish the Metro series, on Exodus right now. Great set of games so far but us 3 with @BassMan got to get together soon to play online 😀

Did you.... did you really just pull a Bruce Banner "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" shtick? Smh
Not for nothing, but are you always is a permanent state of misery? You always seem to be upset about something or another. Are you able to experience joy of any kind?

Surprised you took that serious
@hardwenzen: Because it seems like something or another causes you to get a knot in your shorts with every other post you make.
You want a cookie? Need a hug? I don't know with you.
@hardwenzen: As others have said, you really do seem to have some issues.
Furthermore, lol commenting on post count, a) not sure how that's relevant and b) I am guessing you don't really have much of a life given that you have so many damn posts and seem to be so proud of that. Dont like saying this (usually) but in this case, quite appropriate, how about you get a life hardwen, maybe go outside, make some friends, etc

My current monitor is AW3418DW which is still a very good monitor (3440x1440/120hz G-Sync) that I have enjoyed the last few years, but it has an IPS panel which is great for colours and viewing angles, but the contrast sucks and there is IPS glow. So, it will be nice to eliminate the negative aspects of the monitor and upgrade it in every way except resolution. 120hz to 175hz will be nice and moving to OLED and HDR is huge.
@hardwenzen: You do bitch and complain a lot on here...
Never bitched in my whole career😎Ask Pedro, he knows.

I will take all your suggestions and do what you said. But remember, my 1440p monitor>your tv.

Nah dude, if you really believe that, you must be delusional and grasping for straws. As usual, trying to make yourself feel better about yourself, seems to be the theme of your posts here. Also, your lack of understanding of pixel density vs viewing distance is showing, maybe educate yourself?
Wonder what your cheap non-HDR 1440P monitor looks like, here is my OLED monitor for comparison :p

You have an rgb keyboard and mouse pad. Talk to me when you're wearing rgb headphones and sitting on an rgb chair.
