That sucks, don't know anything about the game but hopefully that doesn't mean we won't get it here.

That 18 rating didn't happen because of Michael "Dog f***er" Atkinson (that's his new nickname, courtest of Yahtzee).

Apparently the politicians don't realize how anything ever works. They figure censorship won't have people clamoring for a change, and that apparently people can't "import" games from other non screwed countries.

I think the funniest thing about this though is how it seems to go against their goals in some ways. You can still play a game like Red Dead Redemption with everything intact (including the full blown boning scene in Mexico, the harsh language and folksy old racism, and the violence of course), and parents will think its totally ok to give to their kid because it couldn't get assigned a proper 18 rating. Its moronic, and it pretty much does the opposite when it allows kids to experience worse things, younger because of a f***ed rating system.

Seriously, I don't live in Australia, but Michael Atkinson is a big mean jerk and I hate him.

Huh, I expected the whole forced suicide thing to be the main sticking point.

I'll bet you anything that when they say this:

It is noted that in cooperative play, points are awarded for civilian casualtiesAustralia

They really mean "points are deducted for civilian casualties".

It doesn't look so bad. As long as it doesn't get too successful, EA won't try to turn it into some CoD marketed CoD killer like they did with poor Battlefield.

4 player campaign co-op, a sweet sci fi setting, various cool powers, plus an aggressive non cover gameplay style and also made by Starbreeze! The guys behind the amazing Riddick games and The Darkness.

It looks pretty cool. I mean, I can expect on disc DLC, online passes, meh online servers and a slightly rushed feeling, but that comes with the territory with EA games.

Anyhow the aussie claasificiation system is a complete joke they should have moved to the new system already PEGI was integrated in a matter of days in the UK if i remember correctly.

It kind of seems like that would be something the game would do, fit it in as a "kill all witnesses" thing, but to be honest its probably Australia being dumb again.

Scoring "points" have been irrelevant in most games for a while, and I also remember a comment on how MW2 awarded points for killing civilians (which was the dumbest, most far from the truth thing you could have said about that).

Problem is if the government/legislation remains dormant with delay after delay, you wont piss off certain lobby groups and that is what they have been doing for the past few years. It's ashame that it eventually came down to the idea that the 15-17 year old age groups were playing typically 18+ rated games rather than the idea that adults can make their own decisions in what to buy. - Also, I dont think, there is any hope for an appeal to go through just by reading why it was refused classification.

Your information is off by a year. Atkinson resigned and an R18 rating has gone through, but changing a rating system takes a while (year or two) to organise so the Aussies are stuck with their current system until then. It's coming, but like anything bureaucratic it takes time.
