Old and I still have the retail version.

Comduter

Me too.  I'll be buying the GOG version however because my retail copy won't run on Win. 7.

I have the same problem

I'm guessing it's a bad thing that this 14 year old game is going to end up being one of the best releases of the year. I mean, it really does put the Bioshock and Dead Space franchises to shame, and there's just nothing else close to it on the market right now.

There was already a thread in SW about it a little wile ago.

Anyway, for anyone interested, the gameplay has aged well. Unlike Deus Ex (the only game which is comparable, and which has a ton of elements thus did not age as well), the game is a straightfoward RPG/Horror with a great level design and immersive atmosphere. The cyberpunk atmosphere is so thick and disturbing.

You're going to suck at the beginning because it is an RPG. Wen you fire a gun, it has a kickback because of the inexperienced character. Once you put a decent amount of points into your agility and weapons, the gunplay is good, there's no kickback, just aim and blissfully shoot. That is, if you have ammo. And if you have a decent amount of stats in your repair skill so you can fix your weapon if it breaks. You can also modify your weapon, to improve it.

The models (weapons, NPCs) are ugly as sin, and so are the graphics. For that, you'll need the God sent of graphical mods. The Lord bless everyone who created them.

HD object textures

HD world textures

HD space textures

HD enemy models

HD weapon models

Just unzip everything in the 'DataPermanentMods' located in your System Shock 2 folder, and you're set to go.

Caved in and bought System Shock 2. It reminds me a lot of Deus Ex. I can see myself getting into this. It still looks pretty decent with mods and everything.

At least you can get the mod list and maybe download elsewhere.

Copy the contents of the cd over and install that and then use the 2.4 patch.

Glad I able to play this game at last, and it seems to have aged decently (unlike say Deus Ex).

This is ridiculous, they were uploaded a couple of days ago and the links are down already? I should probably make a backup of all the mods on my phone, that way i know i'll always have them at my disposal. Â
