Poll System Warriors...A question for all of us. Do you buy digital or hard copy games? (90 votes)

Digital 42%
Hardcopy 58%

I was curious as to what all of your preferences are as far as buying your games digitally or actually going to a store and getting a hard copy. I personally have drifted over to buying my games digital. In my opinion buying hardcopy games unless you are a collector is useless. Many people say what if your HDD crashes? Well, I say what if your disc gets scratched? Digital purchase is simply too easy and conveinient to have to go to a store, wait in line and get back home to play a new release!

Both. Depending on the game/device/availability/trust.
I wouldn't want to buy a digital version if it is tied to a service I don't like, for instance.
If it's a game I superlove I might want to have a physical special edition so that I can touch it and show it off.

Both for retail, but this will depend on the harddrive space I have on the consoles I own.

To each his own, but just FYI, I purchased and preloaded Sunset Overdrive, CoD AW and Halo TMCC without having to wait in line at midnight with a bunch of fat, Star Trek T-shirt wearing, pot smoking losers at the local Gamestop!! So while you losers are waiting in line waiting for midnight to strike, I will be home drinking a beer and playing before you even get back into your car from your 3 hour wait at Walmart!!!

My console games are always physical, unless they are solely a digital title.

Whatever bro. You know exactly what I am talking about. Midnight releases are full of people that earn $8 an hour and only are getting a new game because they traded in their whole collection from last year for store credit!!! This is the main reason why Digital is the savior for those of us who game and aren't a drain on society. Everyone better get used to digital as physical media of any kind is going to vanish!!!

I prefer digital for most games, but I do like buying physical for games I think are going to be great or want as a sort of "collectible" I guess.

In most cases Ninty games are physical buys, and that's barring the space they got on default for there consoles. :P PS games so far have mostly been digital aside from tlou and tew.

I prefer physical copies. I know it gets cluttered later on but its still my personal preference. Not only that but I get to take it to a friends house and play it there. More convenient.

Preferably physical copies.

I like the idea and convenience of digital copies, but as technologies advance companies want to have a hand in the transfer of that digital media from one device to another. And I don't like them saying how, when or why I can or cannot move my digital media where ever I want to.

I buy physical copies for everything that I can. Digital only if I really want it and it doesn't release in a physical form.

I wish I had all my games in digital form. Telling Xbox to "go to Forza Horizon 2" after playing Black Flag is so much more practical than reaching out to a high shelf, putting the game away and then inserting the next game. With voice commands I can even be going away to the kitchen and queuing the game to boot and when I'm done eating the game would be up and running. Hard copies have one advantage, though - they can be resold or traded in. Other than that - not so much. They don't even print manuals anymore so collecting is now only limited to a box and some box art

Haven't purchased a physical game since the last of us. Been on pc solely since so ya all digital here. Love the fact I can just forever store my games on drives, buy a couple decent 1tb's and a decent ssd for your more texture intensive games and your good to go.

Since we are discussing Physical Vs Digital, does anybody know if the Wii e-shop has been shut down?

I was in the mood to play my Wii, so I set it up, but I'm unable to access the store and re-download software I previously purchased :(

If it's console, I go with hardcopy. Especially Vita and 3DS, which are two systems I play the most nowadays. Their problem with DD is f*cking mindblowingly idiotic as hell (Vita: can't export save; 3DS: bound to the bloody machine, not account).

On PC, I go with digital, except for some games. I'll probably get Witcher 3 and DAI in retail, just like their predecessors.

Digital all the way, COD:AW is already pre loaded and just waiting for the 3rd to get here!!!

The games I buy I know I'm not getting rid of, and it's just so much easier to tell my X1 to launch my games and switch thru them. I have no physical copies of games at the moment and that's really thanks to EA access. It's paid for itself I got the year sub for $30. Immediately traded in COD:Ghost got $22 for it and just traded in PvZ:garden warfare and got $12 for it.

And before you say you can't trade in digital games and make money like that I know and understand that and will be a wiser smarter consumer of my digital purchases. Digital games a keepers physical are on a whim purchases or rentals.

When you lose a digital copy, change account, anything...you need to notify CS before doing so or else lose all data. That and a lot of other small print involved with digital. Granted I d/l a bunch of movies on my ps3, switched to a ps3 slim thinking I could just redownload the crap nope lost 100 worth of content. **** you SONY. Wonder if they changed their bs clauses talking about how shit not on file my ass. Some DRM rule I think.

Console: retail

PC: digital

If consoles offered a service like Steam or GOG, I'd be all digital all the time.

There should be an option to choose both.

I buy mostly hard copies unless they are indie games of sales going on.

I mostly get physical, but I'll be more receptive to digital if the price is right. Knowing a digital copy can't be re-sold, it needs to be $25 or less. OK, maybe $30 in some cases.

And the poll is flawed as it doesn't take cost into account, where the choice on a given game will come down to that factor. It doesn't always come down to always one or the other at all times.

All digital. Got a 32 gig card in the 3DS. It's just easier than carrying around carts. Got a 2TB external hooked up to the Wii U and I get DDP points for every download. It adds up. Might have to upgrade the drive in the PS4. 500 gigs fills up faster than you think.

i try to get a physical copy for a game mostly cause my internets speed is slow and a lot of games these days are huge, downloading a 30-50gb game takes over a week of lagging the internet.

I used to get physical copies cause I liked owning the game in a real form, but with the DRM now, its meaningless since you own a useless item that you can't even use unless you activate it with whatever method they have come up with to screw with you.

Not long back i got Borderlands 2 physical copy, thinking it would be a quick install and play, but they forced me to download a 3 gb patch before playing it, completely defeated the purpose of buying it in physical form. Since then i dunno where I stand, i know it'll suck no matter what form i get a game in cause i know i'll likely run into problems somewhere.

Both. Mainly digital on PC unless I find a good retail deal. Physical where possible on consoles/handhelds.
