System Wars: 1984 Edition

Atari 800XL = PS3/Cows - self elected graphics King with 256 colors at 192p, better sound(4 sounds at once! vs 3 in the C64), great exclusives (Star Raiders, Eastern Front), several hundred dollars more expensive. Also had 99 different SKUs like PS3 does.

Commodore 64= Xbox 360/Lems - A bajillion games of all kinds, the top choice of 'gamers' who had moved on from the Atari VCS/Intellivision, cheapest game computer on the market.

Apple II= Wii/Sheep - limited graphics (7 colors?) and lowest resolution, popular with non-gamers (ie parents and schools) so every other freakin house/school has one. Tons of shovelware, mostly educational, although it did have its Zelda(Wizardry) and timed exclusive Castle Wolfenstein.

Atari VCS/Intellivsion = Hermits (tables are turned as console games were pretty much crap, this was pre NES)

this thread is good but it shows that more than half of the posters here were born in the PS1/N64 era. thats really sad, they never lived the days when it was a real system war. lol Genesis does what Nintendont.... that was a real system war. the gaming commercials were real wreakless about the other companies trying to get market share. Sorry to say but thats pretty damn accurate; the Atari computersandC64 rivalrywas just as bad as 360/PS3.

And the NES and SEGA Master system had to save home videogames as a whole almost. My american systems were all crap then except the coleco vision which had the killzone2/ crysis at its time Donkey Kong JR BEST GRAPHICS EVA!!
