i dont complety agree with u on point two TC. u do have a point...there are some things that we wont be seing on wii...period. however ure explanation seemes to underestimate it a bit.

look at spartan total warrior. it had hundreds of units on screen at a time and had other effects like bloom n stuff and it ran quite nicely on a PS2 and GC. since the wii is more powerful than either of those...surely it could handle even more units at the same detail level. i cant comment on stranglehold since i havent played it. however the CPU in the wii is quite a bit more powerful than the cpu in the xbox 1. xbox could run HL2 which had some pretty kewl physics in it. red steel also used the ageia physics engine (though not very well....poor rushed game). so theres still potential there for pretty good physics.

i do agree with u overall though...there are things on the 360, PS3 and PC that we just wont be seeing on wii (and the reverse is also true mind....trauma center on a 360/PS3 with a normal controller......o god no.). i would love to see what a really good developer (like the creative assembly) could do with wiis hardware though. they have a tendency to do amazing things. rare and factor 5 also have a tendency to get the very best out of nintendo hardware.

Exactly, and hey man, your sig clip is hilarious. :lol:jetthrovegas

I think I originally saw it on someone else's sig here in SW. If anyone knows what video it was taken from, I'd love to know. It has to be a little skit or something. The best part of it, is how Burger King sits back in his seat, as the window goes up, as the car starts rolling away. Its great!

It really is badass. Just as good as the Lord of the Rings spoof thing that's been floating around.

I also hate how GameSpot scores determine how good a game is. If GameSpot scores this game lower than another, the lower-scored game isn't better no matter what you think. GameSpot isn't the only source out there. But this is GameSpot and that's how it works in System Wars, no matter how much I hate it.

I agree with #5. People try to make one company out to be the good guy. The person who "cares about the gamer; this company only wants your money". Newsflash: every company cares about money. That's all they care about. Game companies don't exist so you can have fun. They exist to make money.

And Miyamoto didn't develop Geist. A producer doesn't design the game.

Do you want it? Not that its mine to give. But if you wanted to use it, I would take it off of mine. You'd just have to promise to do the same for the next genius to ask about it.

Nah, you can keep it, I don't want to jack your sig, plus I'm working on a new sig of my own right now. It will be badass.

Alright guys, I've been staying cool for a while, refraining from going on any expletive riddled orgies of self indulgence that are "Rant Threads", but lately I have been seeing some fanboyish ideas/concepts that make me (in the words of Jackie E.) want to kick a ****ing dog.... or sumthin'.

So ladies and gentlemen, here it goes: my list of SW ideas that arethat are ****ing stupid beyond belief.

Stupid ****ing idea #1: JRPGS have to stay the same in order to be JRPGS.

Since when do all JRPGS have to be conventional turn-based affairs with stale 15 year old gameplay?
I see all these people hyping Lost Oddessy and Blue Dragon, even though those games show no signs of innovation and change whatsoever. Why would you hype gamesthat refuse to do anything new, when a perfectly new and innovative title called Eternal Sonata is sitting right in front of you? Stop hyping games that stand on 15+ year old crutches; you're only encouraging them to stay the same.

Stupid ****ing idea #2:The Wii's lack of power is irrelevant; the core gameplay can always be ported.

False. There are games that the Wii cannot handle, no matter how bad the graphics are downscaled. Look at Dead Rising: that game revolves around having hundreds upon hundreds of enemies onscreen at once, which is something the Wii simply cannot handle. Look at Stranglehold: The core gameplay of that game relies upon the Massive D physics system, which is something the Wii cannot handle.

Listen, I'm not saying the Wii doesn't/can't have good games, just stop acting like it can handle all gaming experiences so long as there is less graphical eye candy.

Stupid ****ing idea #3: Developer starpower = Game quality.

I've been seeing alot of this tripe lately with relation to Sakaguchi. For some reason, people tend to think that Starpower = good game. That simply is not true. One dev cannot ensure that a game is good, and one dev cannot sink a game by him/herself. Just because a dev has had success in the past, does not mean they will always get it right. Putting those kinds of expectations on one person is unfair.

Even Shigeru Miyamoto, the greatest dev of all time, messes up. Look at Geist.

Stupid ****ing idea #4: You have to play a game in order to earn the right to judge it.

I've been hearing this phrase alot: "Until you play the game you have no right to judge it."Yes I do; I have every right to judge games I have not played. That is why GS exists.

If I played every piece of **** that came along just so I could have the right to judge it, I would be ****ing broke.
Videos and previews are here for a reason. Let's ****ing use them.

At some point we have to use reviews to guide us; can anyone here afford to play every single game that is released?

Stupid ****ing idea #5: (insert game company here) actually cares about the gamer.

No they don't. They care about money as they well should. They don't give a flying **** about you personally unless you are cutting directly into their money making. Yes guys, even Nintendo.

Alright cats, that's my list. I'd love to see yours. Feel free to post your Stupid ****ing Ideas.

Just try not to kick a ****ing dog.

[QUOTE="FireXero"]Youre not making much sense with your last point. I mean...you cant judge a game until you have played it. You have all the right to purchase a game based on its reviews, but you cant go around saying that a game sucks if you havent even played it.jetthrovegas

Fusion Frenzy 2 sucks. I have never played it, but I know it sucks.

Same with Big Rigs, Barbie Horse Adventure, and Bomberman Act Zero.

A GR ranking is a good indicator of a games quality.

I do not have the time or the money to play every game. Reviews are crucial.

Try to read that again, it seems you didn't even pay attention to what i said, just hit replay to answer with the same thing you've said a thousand times before in this thread...ahhh, a true system wars poster!

When people in System Wars say that you cant judge games until you've played them, they usually refer to popular games, games with an average rating and sometimes games with and under average rating. But of course it seems you're talking about another system wars... one where we all discuss BIG RIGS AND BARBIE GAMES!!

There is a freaking difference between buying or not buying a game depending on its its rating and then actually coming to system wars to discuss and judge a gaming that you have never even played.

If a game has high review scores I wouldn't diss it anyways. What is your point?

Mmm, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are going to rock. :)BioShockOwnz

totally agree

to the TC your #1 is complete crap

what makes the jrpg gener special in that it HAS to be innovative in its combat system? i mean fps's have been the exact same in their combat for a long long long time(you press a button to shoot) why makes the jrpg gener special that every game HAS to be non-traditional

for instance in the jrpg a game thats different is eternal sonata like you said, in the fps gener has a game like bioshock with its rpg/fps elements would be considered innovative as well, however, medal of honor, cod4, halo 3 at the core they are basically all the same combat wise and are comparable to lost odyssey and blue dragon in that regard dont you agree?

the thing that makes those games different is the story, background, enviorment etc... which is how blue dragon is different than lost odyssey

heck tell me whats so innovative in the combat system of army of two, merc2, blacksite, etc.....?

Stupid ****ing idea #4: You have to play a game in order to earn the right to judge it.

jetthrovegas

Actually, I only apply that to games that are out. It gives you a broader perspective than had you not played the damn game.

The gameplay in FPS's has changed many times over the years.

HL,SS2, DE,H:CE, FC,and now Bioshock.

JRPGS have remained the same for15 years.

I agree, there is a difference between using ratings and reviews to determine if you want to buy or rent a game versus using those ratings and reviews to "judge" a game. For example, I picked up Madden based on reviews and ratings, but I never judged it before I played it, even after watching vids and looking at pics all day. Now that I've played it I can judge it and I don't think it's that great.
