[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] Don't turn into one of those nostalgia freaks, Neon. :P And yeah, it's pretty amazing how well MM has aged. Been playing it recently myself. Incredible title.ChubbyGuy40

I think the worst part of MM is the Deku part, but that's still amazing.

WTB remake Nintendo. For Wii-U pl0x.

Oh, God, HD Majora's Mask. That game would be scary as f*ck with good graphics. I would day 1 that sh!t, though. DAY 1.

Majora's Mask is already creepy as hell. I have no clue how they managed to get an E rating on this game. Blood is not a requirement to have players on the edge of their seat. MM proves that.

I wouldn't call it terrifying either, but it's got a hell of an atmosphere and it is pretty creepy for a game that was rated E. Holds up so well though, man. Playing it for the first time right now and I'm blown away at how modern it feels.

You say that like Zelda has been some evolving franchise. MM is the only unique game of the 3D bunch, and the rest are Ocarina esque games that play it far too safe for their own good. Sure sometimes they save themselves with a nice coat of paint/personality(windwaker) and in other cases just sheer excellent dungeons(everything from Arbiter Grounds and after in TP). But all things considered that franchise hasn't done much to make older games in the series feel dated.

Plus games in the genre like Okami and Beyond Good and Evil while good in their own right never really delivered in the same areas MM did. Not to discredit MM's ability to stand the test of time. That game is fantastic.

Edit: I love how all my posts get bunched up if I do a quick reply/quote.

I was talking more about the feel of the game, man. Something like Banjo-Kazooie or Super Mario 64, they just don't hold up these days. They're too basic. But Majora's Mask feels fresh. Super Mario 64 is one of my favorite games of all time, but man, if I replay that today it simply doesn't compare to todays 3D games. But Majora's Mask does. Majora's Mask holds up better than a lot of games released this gen and I think that's saying something about the quality of this game.

I'm not talking about the genre or the Zelda adventure structure or anything. It's more of a feel. It's you know it when you play it.... I sound like a total pothead right now. I think you know what I'm trying to say.

And I'm saying a lot of that has to do with the games that came after.

A game's not gonna age if something didn't come out to push that idea even further. In MM's case nothing did. Hence why that game will still be excellent next year. That is until the atmosphere starts to lose some of its sway. As good as the side stuff is in that game, those dungeons aren't exactly Zelda hierarchy.

I see what you're saying, and it makes sense. I didn't think of it that way. Honestly, I like the dungeons, but the best ones were in Twilight Princess. Man, they nailed the level design in that game. I haven't played Skyward Sword yet so I can't say anything about that one yet. Wind Waker was pretty good too from what I remember but it was a little on the easy side.

One thing that I noticed that is a step down with current Zelda titles from Majora's Mask though are the boss battles. In Majora's Mask these guys are pretty rough (by Zelda standards), and they take more than the typical "hit it in the eye three times to kill it" pattern that later games have followed.

Skyward Sword has some fantastic dungeons. The Lanryu dungeons are GODLY. It's just in between the dungeons, and pretty decent boss fights is a crap ton of all things that are annoying about zelda. Fetch quests, lame overworlds, and some weak ass combat. Plus there are the motion controls which are fine in combat, but christ do they suck when you need to do other **** like swimming. It's one of those games where if they cut like half the "content" in the game it would suddenly become fantastic by subtraction.

Pfft I dislike Bethesda games. Where were you even going with that?

13 was the Boston Marathon in videogame form.

For 20 god damn hours(I stopped at like Chapter 12) that game was go forward, press x on menus in fights, go forward. Rinse and repeat. The battle system is decent enough because it's fluid, but the game takes its sweet ass time trying to take the training wheels off. Some of the worst pacing known to man.

It's okay though you get to walk forward in a straight line for 20 hours. EXCITEMENT. Yeah walking simulator.

Godly dungeons sounds like fun. Unresponsive controls is something I've been hearing lately from a few users as well though. Now that does make me worry a bit. Oh well, I'll deal with it when I get the game.

Good night, fellas. I'm turning in. Tomorrow's another busy day.

Because all you do in Bethesda games is walk.... I thought that would be pretty self-explanatory. Some people call it a hiking simulator, but I guess that's if you want to compliment the games.

I dug XIII. Here's the deal though, I started hating it, than by the time chapter 3 rolled around I was interested in the scenario and a few of the characters. And as each chapter rolled along I just got more invested in the plot and dug the combat more and more. Eventually after beating the game I just kept doing the Missions as well and just kept racking up hours. I spent more time post-credits playing the game than I did to get to the end credits. I really just dug all of the end-game content. A lot of my love FFXIII is that the battle system is just so awesome. I'm still not finished with it. I have like six more Missions/Monster Hunts left, but my characters need to be higher levels for the last guy and I just ran out of patience after 100 hours.

I can see why it isn't for everyone, but it's one of those you either love it or hate it type of games. Still, I'll be giving FF6 a shot to see if my 10 for XIII was premature or not. I always change my ratings down the line, anyway, so don't look at them all as solid.

I should play MM on my Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition for GC. Which I just discovered was kind of rare haha, no more me using that case as a frisbee then. I actually was trying Minish Cap, got pretty far, and just stopped after how stupidly some of the levels are designed and how bad some game mechanics are that I hope don't go as overlooked in other Zelda games compared to this one.

Boring, but I blame that on the fact that since this is the weekend, and I've been going on at the hours most people sleep(because I don't get back home till like 4) doesn't help my cause. Aint none of the old faces around. Bunch of field fillers running the show.

Hey Verb, I'd rather we not make an avatar we both end up regretting in the future. Let's go with the Bieber one! :D

Also, can we add one more sticky that I'm willing to make? It's going to copy... er, incorporate two threads from CAG into one. They really are great ideas:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312186

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173438

One of them is the How Long Does It Take To Beat This Game thread, which is self-explanatory, but is a great wiki for other users. It may be more fit on GGD, but no one goes there... :(

The other is awesome. It's the What Games Have You Completed So Far, where you record what games you beat month by month. It's really a fun activity, especially for us System Warriors. It's even better when we can compare year over year.

Please respond back, hoping other GameSpotters like the idea.

Now I gotta rush, I was typing this while resisting the urge to take a dump on the spot.

[QUOTE="Blabadon"]I think he means emulate them on my DS. waltefmoney

The DS can handle that?

Nope, but he was headed in the right direction. I meant buy them off PS Store gawl :P

DS could handle PS1 graphics. Even the GBA could play RE2. Can't handle emulation though.

Walking simulator? We talking about Bethesda's games or something?

NeonNinja

KORREKTSHUN. Bethesda games are inventory management simulators, actually.

Champ..

How you liking SW.Worse?better?same?

jg4xchamp

Boring, but I blame that on the fact that since this is the weekend, and I've been going on at the hours most people sleep(because I don't get back home till like 4) doesn't help my cause. Aint none of the old faces around. Bunch of field fillers running the show.

Lots of people left, yea.New TOU does that. Some already left before.

The worst part about Skyward Sword is the dungeons, and the sheer amount of them. Even most of the overworld is a dungeon. Very annoying. Outside of that though, great game.

Dungeons for Zelda games are a drag and slow the game down immensely. Twilight Princess had good dungeons though.
