Dear Esther is so beautiful, hard to decide if Journey is actually better than Dear Esther or not, they both deserve a 10 imo.

It's weird how much I love these types of games, they're barely interactive (especially dear esther), completely linear, and in the case of Dear Esther there is absolutely no sense of danger at all.

Of course if a movie came out with a similar theme I'd love it as well, problem is the film industry has almost zero creativity these days.

For the attentionally challenged of the linear pew pew generation I can see why it doesn't appeal, I loved it.

I didn't know herding cows for a mission not being appealing automatically puts us in the attentionally (that's not even a word) challenged generation.

i lol'd Granted not every mission was brilliant, but you're talking about a tiny percentage of the game. To the game is "empty" is crazy, what do you expect from a game set in the middle of the wild west, a sprawling GTA style metropolis? :?

I'm not interested in Westerns at all, either... However I did grow up in Texas, so that might have added a bit of nostalgia, I can't really tell though. First of all the visual design is fantastic, photorealistic shadows/lighting in a CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE, the textures might be crap but R* really knows how to master lighting. The story was fantastic, story missions dragged on in the beginning and middle, but aside from that they slowly started to get better. The ending was shocking, at least for me, sort of shows that I actually cared about the main character, which I never do. There's also tons of content, awesome online multiplayer, and most importantly an unparalleled western atmosphere, I could ride around on horseback (with the hud disabled) and admire the landscape for hours without getting bored.
