the first two regions were very generic and boring imo, Team rocket are terrible antagoists as are team glactic. 5 livened it up a bit, 4 was boring all around.

4 is almost Pokemons DMC2.

3 was so much water. I know they were trying to incorperate dive a lot, but it ended up annoying the hell out of me. I like the town that was on the water though.

I swear 5 had the highest encounter rate in any game I've played.

DMC fans act like it never happened.

That said, it was important to the series.

I don't know why people rage about Pokemon designs so much, I don't play Pokemon games for that.
