Honestly, a lot better than I expected. Admittedly, I haven't played all the shmups that exist, but it has a charge mechanic that gives your weapon attachment an alt fire if you let go of the A button.

I'm playing Transformers Devasatation, F1 2016 and Thumper. I give my XBONE controller the end of the month.
Should throw in a fighting game in there for the overkill.
If it's not Ikaruga it's not controller killing.
