Tell me, my fellow System Warriors:

Why the obsession with companies going bankrupt and failing to meet their sales targets? All of this doomsday talk makes this forum seem rather tame compared with message boards on conspiracy theories.

Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all too big to fail. Even if they fail to meet sales targets here and there, they are not going away any time soon. Maybe one of them might sink in the future, but even then, we are talking about timescales that are beyond the interests of this forum (i.e., 10 years or more).

As for Sony:

1. Sony is not going to go bankrupt. They might be in a frail condition, but there is nothing in their financial statements to indicate that they are on the edge of collapse. And even then, I would be very surprised if the Japanese government doesn't find some way to bail them out.

2. The Vita will sell slowly in the US, at first. But, with time, I can easily see it smashing records, particularly as Sony delivers a price cut to the hardware and as more compelling games and apps roll out for it.

System Warriors, you must learn that success sometimes only comes with the passage of time. Remember when everyone was declaring Nintendo dead? Look at them now.

You're just feeding the fuel of the Sony Doom Doom stuff.

I remember just a few Months ago System Wars was doing the same thing for Nintendo.

Next it'll be Microsoft.

Well Sony are very fiscally irresponsible. Think of Nintendo and Microsoft being Bill Clinton balancing the budget and leaving a surplus. Sony is like Bush/Obama spending a ton and increasing the debt by quite alot which leads to Sony being in the red. Another anology would be Sony being a teen who maxes daddy's credit. Sony should not be too big to fail and if the Japanese people value free enterprise they will let Sony crash and burn.

They seem to be very obsessed with failure, probably due to the fact that's what they are.

Sony is not doomed, they will not go out of business. However, if Vita sales do not pickup significantly, developers will drop Vita like a hot potato and Sony will have to discontinue the Vita all together if this happens.

A couple weeks ago Nintendo was the one going belly up. Welcome to the cycle that is System Wars. Get used to it.

Agree.

Only a fanboy would want Sony to fail.

A real gamer does not.

Without Sony, theres more casuals and casual games in the market..
As wesker put it..

I think you're giving a little too much credit to one fanboy with numerous alt accounts who has a fetish for spamming.

Sony isn't just a financial figure in Japan; there is a sense of pride in the fact that it was one of the first (the first?) Japanese companies to really bring a product overseas and convince the west that Japan could make quality products. It would probably be pretty demoralizing if Sony went out of business and there would probably be an uprise in hatred of China/Korea.

The irony is that Sony probably has everything made in China these days.

"System War's obsession with the bankruptcy of Sony and the failure of the Vita" is only topped by System War's obsession with the bankrupcy of Nintendo and the failure of the 3DS.

I get tired of it, all the talk about Sony, but people are correct: it happens with every console...

360 is my primary console, but I wish no ill will towards Sony or Nintendo. I own all 3 consoles and every one of them does something well that the others don't. There's room for all 3...

Sony is not doomed yet.

If they bring out the ps4, THEN they are doomed.

an $18b company is not too big to fail.

too big to fail only applies to certain corporations thatare so large and so connected to other corps. that their failure will hurt the economy.

Sony is not one of these corps, they do not have trillions of open positions on the market and noone will care when they go as there are many better products out there.

It's mostly out of fear. Lemms and sheep alike are scared that one day MS or Nintendo will just jump ship or the very thought of being third in the console race is just frightening to them. So they've come to the realization that getting Sony out of the picture will ensure that it will never happen. There is no legit reason to hate Sony. It's clear they've done a lot for the gaming industry.

Probably has more to do with Sonys arrogance and Cows being bullies in the past and now being struck down at the knees at the mercy of the more powerful companies that aren't on the verge of bankruptcy.
