System W@rs Game of the Year Awards - RESULTS

Greetings to all and to all a happy holiday season! The following is the results of the System Wars GOTY Awards thread started last Monday. The awards have stood as a community reflection of our year in gaming and should be treated as such. This isn't Gamespot of 2007....or even 2017.... We are changing and it should be embraced.

So....! As a general vibe going in, please remember a few things...

• Our community is much smaller than in years past.
• Not every single person who interacts with this forum voted, but that has always been the case.
• Choose to take from the results what you want.... To me it's nothing more than keeping census on our common hobby.
• Nobody wins anything... I will not be sending you anything if you were mentioned in a category. We will not be mentioned in publications nor will this list be used for "ownage" for any one idea or group of fan(boys).
• The sole intent here is to build community and see it grow... The "old" days carried a certain toxicity with these awards, I personally never felt that, but some have. I prefer to move on and be present, you can too!

I mean I'm fine with everything that won other than our Game of the Year. I mean really lems? Infinite? I know the board is infested with Xbots right now but couldn't you guys rally behind Forza 5 instead? you know a game that was actually released complete instead of a GAS patchwork mess that is Infinite?

Great job @TheEroica 👏🏽. Despite my bitching about gamers choosing Halo Infinite for GOTY for the TGA Gamers' Choice GOTY, it also won it on this site. 😂 I look forward to what next gaming has to offer. It looks like it would be stellar for everyone.

It's funny, because Halo was a write in winner. So it beat the odds for sure on this board.

And yes, thanks to everyone here. I've been around since 02, lost access to my original account and been here on and off ever since. But I've always enjoyed being here and exchanging viewpoints. Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone :)

Only 2 people on these forums own a PS5, so they were the only ones allowed to vote in it.

But if Returnal is GOTY, why didn't the cows buy it? lol

The reason is simple. Because most cows don't even have a ps5 yet. Its in such incredible demand that even if you want it real bad, you just can't get one. Never have we seen this in gaming.

And the 10M odd cows that do own one?

Might've bought it used like i did.

If the biggest cow on SW, me, refused to purchase the game for the full price, i can assure you that there are many others such as myself. $70 is simply too much for a game like this.

70 bucks for a game seems reeeally off the mark to me. Like, what is their play here? In my opinion they are gouging the people who can't help themselves. They are betting that people are so lost to self decipline that they'll go along with it.... Then the game goes on sale a few weeks later. 70 bucks for a game is literally a test in how weak someone can be to hype.

Pedro absolutely demolished Champ and Conan over Dread. Alongside all other Nintendo users with a much-needed reality check.

He deserved to win. I've always been overrated, just prolific, basically spam.

Besides, Erotica is bias, probably altered the results.

Doesn't really matter, Ghost is the best user every-year, people just don't like to admit it.

That's what i've been saying. How can you even consider asking for more (each game costs $103 CAD here, which is absolutely ridiculous) when the games are EXACTLY the same as they were during the 8th and the 7th gen? Its not like they fund a way of producing video games in a new, superior, but unfortunately, a more expensive way. Its same ol same ol video games, but they're somehow more expensive? I hear these companies bitch about games being more expensive to produce, and i call BS on that. Firstly, engines are easier to work with. Secondly, gaming is much larger than it once was, guanranteeing more revenue. And in the case of EA/Activision and the other cringy devs & publishers that began charging $70, they're also selling a ton of mtx, so don't come to me bitchin' about the cost of producing a video game. Like, they sell an armor/clothing skin for $10-20. How much would it cost to design, animate and render a 3D armor in a video game? 10k? I genuinely do not know, but it can't be expensive. Then, they make hundred (if not more) of thousands from simply selling a single armor set from just one of their games. And i remember Activision was charging $1 for a blue red dot... like Jesus fk. The amount of money they're farming with MTX should cover everything, including dlc's and expansions. They're all greedy, and their "too expensive to produce" is just a bunch of BS.

And that's too bad for Sony. Right now, the only game that is announced and i am set on purchasing day one for the full price is GoW2. Everything else, if i do get em, it will be in used condition, so Sony ain't getting a cent from me. Wanted to play greedy? Now you're getting nothing from me🤷‍♂️

Also.... In large part we are playing 6th generation games. I know you mentioned 7th and 8th,but really that point could be made as far back as vice city/gta 3

Ghost is vastly underrated.... Hes like an old coal engine that just keeps pumping.

Sure, but during the 6th gen, we didn't really have quality in engine cutscenes with top notch acting (motion capture, facial animations, etc) like we currently do (especially from Sony), and as far as i know, this is expensive to produce. So in that sense, i am sure it is indeed noticeably more expensive for the devs to produce.
