I really liked tales of the abyss better, because symphonia seemed to drag in the story. also because tales of the abyss hadfar greater characters and storyline to match. Smphonia is overhyped and it wasnt all that.
Symphonia was good, but that was back when all I had was a GC. It would have been better if the proclaimed "2nd disc" wasn't about 2 hours long. Copy_Snake
Both were probably the high point of the series, but I agree, Abyss was the best to me. I think the main thing that put Abyss higher on the list were the tweaks to the battle system. All the special abilities, the growth sockets, FoF changes, ability to run in any direction (provided you have the SA), just made it far more fun. Almost like a fighting game. I also think Tear was more likeable than Colette, and Luke had a more satisfying story than Lloyd.
Abyss completely overshadowed FFXII last year for me. Going to FFXII from Abyss sure made it seem brutally boring.
I haven't played Tales of Abyss but I felt like Tales of Symphonia would have been so much better if it had been about 8 hours shorter. At that point the game just dragged on.
