I found TF2 to be quite boring sorry. I'd probably like it better if there was a free for all deathmatch mode. I prefer Halo 3 , COD4 type games that give you a choice of team play or solo play.

No offense but I'm sick of your type of playstyle in online FPS. It's self-serving, defying the objective of the game and ultimately makes the team fail. One of the reasons I play TF2 so much is the fact people HAVE to work together. It's not team rambo vs team rambo, which is a tired old formula as it is.

Yup, Team Fortress2 on PC is the king of all online FPS. Sorry Halo and COD, but TF2 >>>> ALL!

:)

Not only is it the best online game this gen but might be the best onlien game ever.

That is all!

kozzy1234

But that is down-right incorrect, good sir!

Counter-Strike is in fact, the better game.

That is not opinion, but fact based on my opinion, therefore it is an opinionated fact, aka falsely true :|

No... no it's just an opinion :(

Thats all you guys have... An upgraded TF2 and WOW...

and BF2, CS:S, CoD4, WaW, DOWII, AA3, Empire: TW... etc, etc.

BF2 and CS:S are 4+ year old games... COD4 and WaW are probably better on consoles seeing as how people rarely use mics on PC (might have some cool mods though).

People are using mics all the time when I play CSS.

None taken, but I don't see your point. I merely stated that I prefer the choice of a solo deathmatch type game. How is that in anyway team related? Sure you don't HAVE to work together in team deathmatch in COD4 or Halo3, but if you find a group of players that do, its usually over pretty quick for the other team. I'm sure the same can be said in TF2. And if you are tired of the same old formula, stick with TF2, I along with millions of others, will be enjoyng MW2 and other games.

lol I'll play those too just for the lulz. It's just rage built up as a console gamer looking for a team based fps :( If you ever played Rainbow Six Vegas you'd know how much of a change of scene that was for console users, shame it hasn't been repeated.

I understand.....As far as team fps goes, I do love me some L4D though. I have played RB6V, but I guess lately for me, it's good to come home and let out some frustration with arcade style run and gun deathmatch. I'm sure some people hate it, and that's fine, just don't deny me a good fragfest which I love from time to time.

TF2 on PC is an unbalanced game filled with bugs, and broken patches. Just today I finally got experience horrible framerate. I thought it was just a myth even though it's such a common problem with TF2. Maybe it's caused by new hardware, or new drivers, but nope. Nothing changed with my computer since the day I got TF2, and yet here I am with horrible framerate that was 60 fps just yesterday :(

CS 1.6 still rightfully holds the crown. TF2 is a piece of garbage.

pyromaniac223

This game is balanced, it is suppose to be a team based game with each player choosing a different class which play differently and I had no problem when play the game on the decent laptop: 1280x800, everything on high,4xAA and 40-60 fps.

Don't bother trying to talk to Nordquist.Every TF2 thread he bashes the game.

As I've asked u before in a previos thread Nordquist, Name a online game that is more balanced, has less bugs and offers free DLC?

I disagree. I'm not a fan of objective based FPS. Period. That makes me biased against it from start though. I do like the graphics, and it plays just fine. I haven't spent enough time with it to say if I like the classes but I do find them cool to look at and humorous. If it had a boring old team deathmatch mode with respawns (Does it?) I'd give it another shot. For now though despite a gaming capable PC, I'll stick to Halo 3, Warhawk, and if I am on the PC maybe Unreal or COD4.

krp008

No it doesnt. Only team-based gamemodes, and thats why i think its lacking. In Halo 3, you can pretty much do and play ANYTHING, in TF2, you can only play 1-2 gamemodes and you cant really mess around in the maps either

1-2 gamemodes? CTF, Command Point, Arena, Payload and Double Payload; 5 game modes right there.

Haven't played it, though I know of it. And there are custom TF2 modes, it just so happens the game itself lends better to the modes it has been designed around -they are much more compelling, and well designed. Of course more modes will be added by Valve eventually, I gather VIP from TFC soon. Anyway as far as custom game modes are concerned counterstrike offers a better variety than any title. While they sure as well arent nearly as compelling as the developers game modes, Zombies, Surft, Maze, Bus from Hell, Smash even the obstacle course maps, or obscure ones (such as riding sleds or driving cars) are enjoyable... I guess there is also the Unreal Tournament series - with its vast amount of modes and mutators. Halo's core gameplay typically revolves around a core set of gamemodes, as multiplayer games in general do. Difference is the majority are what you would come to expect in a shooter, except it is is completely built up around Halo's own gameplay design, though there are some fun unique modes. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter how many modes a game can have, it boils down to the multiplayer design as a whole.

krp008

I have never seen any evidence in this regard to prove so.

From a design point of view in the most recent titles, to when I was hyped for the first back in the 90s.

As good as Halo 3's multiplayer is, its sure as hell not the best.

Considering how many diverse, excellent, online shooters there are, there simply isn't one.

Disagree, the feature set is impressive, but Halos gameplay is incredible lacking, was watching the MLG Halo 3 competitions... I Was falling asleep, the lack of standard things like sprint, the, the slow movement and the lack of any real desire for cover makes the game a slow yet fast paced repetitive game like no other.

CS1.6 is a decade old this month. Has over 10k GOOD maps alone. Has a huge and very close knit community that hasn't been dwindling for years like other games. 125k unique logons per day and it peaks to almost 300k on weekends. ?????? better than TF2 .... i dont think so. Better than CS:S ... definitely.

I have no idea where he got the idea that I "hated" Halo 3 multiplayer. I've had a few hilarious matches with my friends that I wont soon forget.

[QUOTE="aaronmullan"] Yeah. I've found no bugs, the game is balanced and the patches have been perfect. aaronmullan

rofl at thinking TF2 is balanced.

Also sad you don't remember hitboxes being incredibly messed up for the Ambassador a few weeks ago? Or spy backstabs failing to work? Or do you not play that class?

Let's not forget when they fixed splash damage, increased FaN damage, reduced damage caused during a sandman stun, or took away the 50 health added by the backburner. There's a reason they had to fix this, and that is because for week and weeks these parts of the game were horribly broken.

How someone can not catch onto these things is beyond me especially when Valve has a website that shows everything.

Let me ask anyone who plays TF2 and thinks it's amazing. What class do you play the most?

I play Spy alot. Clocking in around 13 hours of him alone. They fixed the hit boxes within a day. I play all the classes equally, that's how I know it is balanced. Every class has a counter class.

I have 140 hours of spy alone 8) *has no life*

[QUOTE="MrGrimFandango"]Counter-Strike reigns supreme as greatest online FPS.KungfuKitten

My experience with CS:
- i get a screen in which i can buy stuff. ow everyone is gone before i'm done.
- everbody seems to get the same weapons. so much for going through all the crap.
- i walk around a corner, boom i can wait 3 minutes or so
- i memorize the buy screen
- i memorize ze map
- i only survive by waiting for someone else to turn around the damn corners, otherwise it's another few minute wait due to some lame ass waiting for me.
- uninstalled, tried to break the disc and failed

It was one of the most frustrating and boring online experiences i have ever had. I'm sure i missed out on some things, (like different modes?! that i heard of but really can't remember...) but from what i experienced counter strike was solely about aiming faster than the opponent. Maybe i was just too frustrated from my first few hours :|

you hate the game because your a noob and can't aim? i got owned alot to when i first started playing but the game was fun either way just play fy,aim,gg when your starting out so you get much quicker rounds and have more fun.

I'm kind of drifting away from it now though... I blame all the snipers after that update for ruining it. D:

But the cloak and dagger + Ambassador are win! :o Ambassador is good for Razorbacked Snipers, and CnD is just fun all 'round :P

Mm, but there are also lots of spies which means there's pyros spychecking all the damn time D: I think the Cloak and Dagger is kind of sucky. Which is its main advantage: most people don't use it, which means that people are likely to believe that you are actually dead. :P

Ive gone off Team Fortress 2 since the updates, Valve got the Blizzard "BUFF/NERF" syndrome... dont nerf classes, just keep buffing, until everyone kills eachother too fast. I cant remember the last game of TF2 I had which wasnt basically a deathmatch run by Pyros, Snipers and Spys. Everyone dies too fast now, the balance is gone. I mean in Vanilla at least they were fairly balanced with one or 2 exceptions (pre soldier ammo nerf, they were abit much) ... now the games a mess.

my 1337 pc cant run TF2, will be getting new laptop soon and TF2 will be the first game for it.....also i dont think pc version is superior, too many updates changed the game imo, 360 version is still the same good ol' version 8)

Team based yes, there are LOTS of different types of on-line FPS. L4D for instance is co-up but not always Vs. Things like Halo are more death match based with the emphasis on single players. Most of them are VERY different and almost as incomparable than cross genre.

see those are the reasons why i think pc verison is not superior
