I read this part and I 'ed because it matches your sig.Screw them, I think the game's prettier than that! Unless it's about that HD upscaling issue.....but I play my games on SDTV. BECOZ ITS RETROSCHOOL, YOU CHUMPS!
Yeah, don't care if they get 5's or 4's, Tekken 6 could be my GOTY.

I will agree it looks to have last gen graphics and from what I heard the single player is very dull. The multiplayer will be popular but it dopesn't looked to have taken the next step this generation unlike Street Fighter 4. I am getting it but my expectations were high to begin with but not now.
It doesn't come out to be 8.8 because that is the overal score not the average score for each area. The review even mentions that it is not a average score right next to the game rating, which in this case is next to the 8.8 score. BTW great score for Tekken 6 looking forward to it, was hoping they work on the looks for this game more but it's not really a mjor issue for me. Then what is the point of giving each catorgary a rating?[QUOTE="scottiescott238"] Im no mathmatician? but how in the hell does that result in an 8.8 ?????-DarthMaul-
Not true. Assassin's Creed was hyped like **** and they gave it below an 8 while most other big review sites gave it 9+. But they are pretty generous with their scores at times, irrespective of hype. *thinks about folklore*LOL, they give high scores based on hype. Every hyped game gets a 9 or something at IGN.

[QUOTE="angelkimne"]Quick Question.... How does a 7, 7.5, 7.5, 8.5, and a 9 average out to an 8.8? not being a fanboy, just dont get it lolLinky
Presentation - 7.0
Graphics - 7.5
Sound - 7.5
Gameplay - 8.5
Lasting Appeal - 9.0
Overall - 8.8
Uh, good score I guess.
Edit: Oh, and IGN AU gave it 9.0

Because each section is not weighted evenly. Haven't read this review but they used to explicitly state that on there older reviews.
good enough. but certainly not challenging Street Fighter 4 for fighter of the year. or even BlazBlue, for that matter.Flame-Eternal
Tekken 6 was absolutely dominant in the arcade scene since 2007 and 2008, replaced in 2009 by T6 Bloodline Rebellion, always in the nº 1 of the most played and more earnings title, above VF5 -performing around the top 5- and SF IV -performing around the top 10-. SF IV is hyped because is the first decent polygonal iteration in the series since the deceptive Street Fighter EX, but isn't a t the same level of popularity and earnings compared to Tekken 6.
Aside from SSBB, Tekken is the most prevalent fighting game in both casual gameplay and pro tournaments, and his sales potential is above any other fighting game franchise. Sales =/= quality, but when in most of the arcade saloons and competitive tournaments Tekken tramples his rivals -again: except maybe SSBB- there's not much doubts about the quality of the game.
Show me another fg with a roster of 40+ characters with a perfect balance between characters -after 3 years of success and testing in arcades-.

Street Fighter 4 was announced back in late 2007 and hit the arcades in mid 2008 and it hit the home consoles with more characters. Tekken hasn't made the big gen next step because it was announced way back in 2005. Street Fighter might not have as many characters and apart from one or 2 they have their weaknesses and having played Street Fighter 4 it focuses on offensive and defensive gameplay nicely. Tekken doesn't seem to have done that with number 6. Now I have yet to play the game but Tekken 6 isn't gonna top Street Fighter 4 for fighter of the year.I think that Tekken 6 will be not only the best fighting game of the year but also the best to date in the current generation. SF IV isn't even enough tested to be in the market -some character as Sagat are way overpowered over the rest-, while Tekken 6 BR roster is much more balanced thanx to near to 3 years of patches in the arcades and the constant testing in tournaments -mainly in Korea and Japan + EVO in USA.
Tekken 6 is probably the best tekken ever; his production values are huge: from the amazing cinematics -more cutscenes in CG than any other fighting game to date- to the number of game modes, the superb balance between character, the huge roster and the immense community behind. You can't even touch the impact of this game in the hardcore circles (tekkenzaibatu, sdtekken) but looking the SF IV, SC IV and DOA 4 sales is no hard to figure that the game will trample in sales over the competition -except the SSBB-.
I find hard to belive how a game that is the best iteration of the saga and have both the respect of most of the pro players in the genre and the support of the sales can be dethroned by a 2D gameplay based on ranged attacks and with evident signs of unbalances in his roster.

If a game gets scored down for graphics, but that doesn't effect their overall score much, graphics-whores will still want to see that individual score. Same for the other categories. What would be the point in giving a rating based on math, based on scores based on subjectivity?[QUOTE="scottiescott238"] Im no mathmatician? but how in the hell does that result in an 8.8 ?????scottiescott238
While I have liked Tekken 3 and Dark Resurrection I shall be getting number 6 but I doubt it taking fighting game of the year. The Tekken Force mode looks so dull and the graphics don't look to impressive. Online will be a blast I am sure of. Tekken 6 shall be good but best fighter of the year I doubt it Street Fighter 4 is gonna be quiet hard to topple.
As for Street Fighter 4 I love the game it might not be well balanced but it is tactical knowing when to go for your opponent with an Hadouken and making sure he doesn't do a dragon punch. I shall agree Sagat is overpowered but he is only difficult to beat in the hands of a pro.

I thought SF4 was pretty balance with the focus attack system and all. I agreed with you sagat is powerful but not that hard to beat. The top player of the world is of course a Ryu player "Daigo".
@ Ondoval, I dont know about the tekken communities since i been away from it for so long but SF4 has a tons of supports. You dont need 40+ characters to be a good balanced game. There are tons of tournaments of pros playing the game (Including Evo). Season's Beatings was just over a couple of days ago too.
