Tekken 7 Announced and it Will Use UE4

never cared for Tekken and too bad they dropped their in-house engine to use a generic piece of trash that most devs will be using this gen.

The announcement was supposed to be during Evo, so I have no idea how IGN got ahold of this so fast.

[edit: Namco were testing the projector for the footage they will show in a couple of hours and many people saw the logo...]

..haven't bought a Tekken game since the PS2 era.. hopefully this will be balanced and fun.

Last time I played Tekken was on PSP, and it was a pretty good game.

Namco's in-house engine for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is now three years old, so it makes sense that they'd want to update to a newer engine.

Tekken 5 was amazing game. Little interest after that game, Tekken Tag 2 suppose to be good.

The new characters better not disappoint (looking at you, MK X). Then again, IF my main man Lei stays in, not like it'll matter to me much, the same way with Raiden in MK X.

There's already a Tekken game on Wii U, so who knows? I wouldn't completely rule it out yet.

Platforms have yet to be announced: Nintendo fans speculate it might come out on wii u, are receptive to the idea and hopeful.

Doesn't get announced for wii u: Nintendo fans claim they never wanted it in the first place and the series sucks.

Hey, I love Tekken to pieces, but I don't think I'd personally choose it over Smash. That's just me though. I'm certainly not speaking for every single person who owns a Wii U.

The Japanese have been struggling for years now because of their reliance on proprietary tech (which has become quickly outdated) and inability to adapt (which is kinda necessary when you are designing games for multiple systems). Capcom's MT Framework notwithstanding, that is. So for Japanese devs to adopt time/resource saving game engines is a good idea.

@LegatoSkyheart: Not even PS3, UE4 only runs on Xbone/PS4/PC consoles.

It's using UE4. I doubt it's coming to PS3 either.

I used to live, breathe, and eat Tekken starting with 3.

I'll buy it if they trim down the roster. Tekken has become the poster child for a bloated roster, and with all the similar movesets that come with that.
