Thanks to the PS2, the potential of probably a dozen franchises last gen wasn't realized, and yet Sony fanboys praised that outdated, hard to program for, high failure rate junker all the live long day. Considering their uproar now over the 360, almost makes you think they don't really care about the games, just their brand loyalty..

Right on!

"On PS3 you've got a guarantee that every machine is going to have a hard-drive and, with Blu-ray, you've got plenty of storage, whereas on Xbox 360 there's no guarantee of a hard-drive and you're working with the DVD format. Does that create limitations?" To which he replied, "Yep."

This is just Year 1 of multiplat creations for these 2 systems. As time goes on, I think more and more developers will find those missing items very constricting.

I agree with you terry

The game is going to get "dumbed" down for the core 360. I know this is old news, but I got laughed at and flamed for predicting a GTA IV downgrade because of the 360. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm right. RockStar is having to release this game on 2 consoles at the same time...that is automatically more work. They've never released a GTA game on 2 consoles AT THE SAME TIME! Couple this with the huge challenge of making the game run well on a core 360.

What do you think is gonna happen? Of course the game world is smaller. RockStar has to work harder than ever to even get this game out in time for both consoles. How much you want to bet that RockStar is insuring the game works on 360 core THEN porting it to PS3. RockStar is having to do this for the sole reason there is a very small percentage of people who own a core 360? That stinks! This is going to be interesting. A big streaming world in HD with no load times having to work within the core 360's parameters. I smell a major downgrade!

Hmmm, I smell selective reading.  This one article has gotten amazing traction here in SW.  Selective reading FTW!

Well, if they don't make it as good as it could be, just because 3% of all 360 owners DON'T have a hdd, they will just release an update, like they did with Oblivion. No problem..Oblivion now looks just the same on the 360 and ps3.

We not saying its difficult only on the 360 though. Just that the 360 will limit it, the article does not say the PS3 will limit it just that it is causing some challenges in development.

[QUOTE="m_machine024"]The core 360's less powerful than the premium? I thought they are as powerful. What's the deal with the downgrade on the core?Lazy_Boy88

Standard HDD allows for data caching that would allow much further view distance and less slow down. 360 GTA4 can't have it because of the Core version.... it's the reason Oblivion load times are way better on PS3.

That's not entirely true. Oblivion loads better on the PS3 because it was optimized better. Oblivion on the 360 uses the HDD to cache data as well.

The big reason is that 4GB or so of the game data ia installed onto the PS3's hard drive PC-style.

Well Oblivion fit onto one DVD, and GTA:SA fit onto one original Xbox DVD.

No problems, no downgrade.

Smaller in terms of range....bigger in terms of storage capacity usage....So, no

Starting on a 360 is easier and more practical in terms of marketability. If they do it on a ps3 then the 360 version will look inferior and it will sell less...and Rockstar is a company that wants to make money os they will please the biggest audience first...sucks for you, owning a ps3.

Lemmings have one game, after a year and a half, and its super shiny and 10 hours long. Good game, but nothing to gloat about.  XL83

Gears of War's success still making you angry??   GeOW must be great if cows still talk about it all the time.

The x360 has plenty of AA & AAA games and the best version of mulitplats.

It's funny how specs come into play when lemmings talk about how uber the "Xenos" is, but they're ignored when the slant favors the PS3. Hypocrisy here is so thick I'm surprised it doesn't cause rifts in the very fabric of the galaxy.

XL83

Selective Memory FTL

Xenos spec are only brought up when clueless cows start talking about "teh Cell.....teh blu-ray......teh RSX". Don't be angry because you know it's true.

 @ Cows

Well we will be hearing this a lot from devlopers about space issues with the 360..and lemming will still act as they have enough space.and they be talkin about compression.lol..but some do realize it and they are perfectly fine with multiple disks..good for them i guess..

Sad part is, TC is basing all this off of an article in OPM. TCHBSO anytime they bother trying to respond in this thread, but then again concidering cows think fake YouTube videos are reliable, I suppose they'll buy into anything...

Of course there's going to be a downgrade, as the 360 core or premium can't handle fully blown GTAIV like a PS3 can, and that (apart form the PS3 having better RAM and being more powerful) boils down to the disc space. You can't fit a mammoth work of art onto a DVD9, and if M$ had been bothered to make a decent disc standard, this might not have been a problem, but they released a sloppy, subpar disc format to go along with a sloppy, subpar console.
