Halo 2 didn't get GOTY( it didn't even get shooter of the year)

and Halo 3 does what to deserve it as everyone says?

It plays very similar to the other two, but adds "forge" wooptie doo. Its not a revolution and hardly an evolution.

Crysis will most likely be better

Killzone 2 will be better

Maybe something else. But Halo 3 is going to win here for sure. Its either Halo or Bioshock and not because I am a fanboy but because GS loves their X-boxes.

One thing. Halo 3 did have one good thing in it that was really unique: The Forge. In my opinion the SP isn't worthy for a nomination for GOTY and the multiplayer is way too mediocre and just lack overall tactics compared to other games on the market.

The Elephant and mongoose to name a few of the vehicles. The lazer, one-hand shotgun, flamethower, and gravity hammer to name a few of the weapons. And generators/degenerators, gravity lifts, bubble shields, radar jammers, alien shields, tripmines to name some of the equipment. Halo 3 gameplay is nothing like the other 2 installments because of these huge additions.

So if the absolute best argument on why Halo 3 won't get GOTY is that a significantly inferior version lost GOTY 3 years ago against COMPLETLY DIFFERENT COMPETITION....than i think it's safe to say Halo 3 has GOTY in the bag.

Honestly, some people here have not given Halo 3 even a small chance to succeed. I would LOVE for some people to tell me what Bungie should have done different to make this game a GOTY contender.

Orange Box = Best Single Player FPS experiance + 2 expansions to it ( Those 2 alone are as long as Halo 3 ) , an amazing small adventure puzzle FPS thats very unique and has very good humour ... and then Team Fortress, one of the best balanced class based FPS we have ever seen, its art-style is also unique to the genre and is adored...

Crysis = Only similar FPS to Crysis is Far Cry (Naturally) , this has expanded HEAVIULY on Far Cry ... no not a small ammount, a TREMENDOUS ammount in all aspects, well it should do, the team is 10x the size and abcked by all the major companyies .. EA/Microsoft/Intel/Nvidia .

Its already been said that Crysis Single-player and Multiplayer could of been sold seperetly they are so complete, Crysis majorly improving on BATTLEFIELD MP ... and the single player, like I said is a TREMENDOUS upgrade to Far Cry.

Mass Effect = Il let a Lemming explain this one, I havnt been whoring the media on it, but I loved KOTOR ... this also expands onto Kotor GREATLY in many areas.

Theres 3 examples for you, your having a laugh if you think Halo 3 has done anything near these spiritual sucessors to thier previous games.

Yeah, I played through Halo 3 campaign once by myself...on Legendary. Played through some of the rest of the levels again for the skulls I missed. Was I supposed to be impressed? I've voiced my opinions on the single player campaign in this game numerous times. Here is a quote from one of my other posts on it. If you don't believe I actually have played it you can ask me any question about areas in the game.

I agree, nothing about Halo 3 is amazing. Actually, the sound and music especially is very well done. However, the graphics are nothing special, they are good though.

Level design? Just more of the same really. I know what you are talking about with the exterior environments, they all seem like the same canyon setting. One in a forest/grassland, one Is in the desert (The Ark) and one is in the snow (Halo). Its a shame too, because my favorite level was the first one, Sierra 117, and I thought the rest of the game was going to be as different as that one.

The indoor environments have seemed the same across all 3 halos. Very blocky, very repeating in terms of design elements and very sterile. No objects or anything, except in the marine base or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I think they fit in with what Halo is trying to accomplish. Very large, imposing, important-looking structures. But its not one of the things that Halo does very well.

The AI in this game is bad. Its worse than the AI in Halo 2. Why? Because there are no Elites. Without Elites, the enemy never advances on your position. The Elites would always hunt you down trying to kill you with the energy sword. In this game, all difficulty is removed because the enemy does not engage you. When you combine this with the regenerating shield, the game becomes easy, even on Legendary. All you need in Legendary is patience. It prevents the game from becoming run-and-gun but thats it. Only thing the enemy has going for it in this game is its awareness, you will spotted from a long way away, especially by jackals (that makes sense though since they have carbines or beam rifles).

The ending was a disappointment. Everything about it, the ascent to the top of the structure, the vehicle part afterwards, and the "conclusion" of the story. The last level just felt like another level in the game. It was hardly epic. And the ending? "Finish the Fight" my ass. Total cop-out, total easy way out.

The weapon variety in this game is nothing to get excited about either. Sure, it has a lot of weapons, but how different are they actually? And WTF is up with reticle turning red when you have an enemy targeted? Get rid of that already.

The gameplay is really just more of the same. Just not enough new elements. Lots of franchises suffer from this, but Halo especially.

The multiplayer in Halo is great, it always has been, and always will. But the single player campaign has never been impressive. And Bungie easily could have made up for the past 2 campaigns with a great end to the series, but they failed to do that.

I haven't played multiplayer online yet. I just got Xbox Live with the game and still haven't signed up for it. My gamertag is Madden1384, hopefully I can use that one online as well. Haven't had my 360 for very long, got it when Bioshock came out. If you want we can play online this weekend, I need to get the multiplayer achievements anyway.

As for my GOTY contender: World in Conflict. Last year GeoW beat company of heroes more on hype than quality and I hope Gamespot don't make the same mistake.
