There is no way the PS3 gains ANY ground on the 360 with this lineup.
ESRB: Everyone 10+ Xbox 360 / X Box 360 Games
NASCAR 08 (multiplat, day/date)
Madden NFL 08 (multiplat, day/date)
Bioshock (exclusive)
Stranglehold (miltiplat, day/date)
Medal of Honor: Airborne(mulitplat, 2 month advantage)
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (multipat, day/date)
Mass Effect(exclusive)
Timeshift (supposedly multipat, exclusive this year?)
Halo 3(exclusive)
Half-Life 2: The Orange Box (multiplat, day/date)
Sega Rally Revo(multiplat, day/date)
Grand Theft Auto IV(multplat, day/date)
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames(multiplat, day/date)
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (exclusive)
Conan(multiplat, day/date)
NBA 2K8(multiplat, day/date)
Virtua Fighter 5(multiplat, PS3 has had since Feb)
Assassin's Creed(multiplat, day/date)
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008(multiplat, day/date)
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (multiplat, day/date)
Army of Two (multiplat, day/date)
Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction (exclusive, at least this year)
So, what you technically have over PS3 is really just BioShock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6, Splinter Cell Conviction and Timeshift (timed exclusive). PS3 this year has Warhawk, SOCOM, LAIR, H. Sword, Ratchet & Clank, Folklore, and timed exclusives like Haze and UT3.
Is there really that significant difference?

Yeah, good point. Problem for Sony is outside of UT3 and Rachet, every other title there is REALLY up in the air as to whether or not it can help sell the PS3 whether by name or quality. I have a lot of faith in HS and Lair though.
