The 360 has no variety at all.

Sony has so many exclusives because they are scrambling to find something that actually sells. Gran Turismo games only come out once a decade now and MGS is no longer exclusive so they are desperate for a system seller like Halo and Gears. Hell even Fable outsells most PS3 exclusives and those games are pretty bad.JohnnyCageMK

And guess who benefits from Sony making so many different critically acclaimed exclusives? Me!

Jeez, if that's why they make so many, I hope none of them sell! I'll buy a copy of them! Lol!

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]You asked me what my favourite games on xbox 360 were and I told you. I didn't nitpick, I just laid out 7/8 titles off the top of my head that impressed me. There is no logic to what you're saying. I'm sure a PS3 fan (although I'm unsure of why that term is being used to exclude me) could come up with a more impressive sounding list, or a Wii gamer, or a PC gamer, or a fellow 360 gamer too.casharmy

That's just it, They really couldn't (check someone already did) and I already knew that because I am aware of the 360 library. I do not konw why a 360 fan would get mad at anyone saying the 360 doesn't have any varitety when it's more or less the case.

Yes 360 has multiplatform games that is well established, but no one NEEDS a 360 for multiplats. 360's variety isn't added up by how many games that it has which can also be found elsewhere, it's added up by what sets it apart I.E. exclusives and furthermore quality games that stand out and are worthy of attention.

When you talk about the great games that set each system apart, the top 2 games mentioned are Gears and Halo, after that it's Forza, then people just fish around to fill in what ever is there because there really aren't any other high quality games to nominate.

Gears Fable Forza Crackdown Halo Culdcept N3 series Chromehounds Amped 3 Saints Row. Where's Ps3 sandbox games> Where's PS3 Mech games? Where PS3card battle games? Where PS3 Snowboarding games? Where PS3 open world exclusive?

See, I have played it. And that is why I know it is simply Tomb Raider with a Micheal Bay budget and a better story. In fact that is why I play it. The story. If I played it for the gameplay I would of traded it already.

Posting an old graph from last year. It's a tad-bit outdated, but still reflects the obvious with respect to variety.

The Xbox 360 offers more genres to choose from compared to the PS3.

As for 360 exclusives?

Halo Reach

Forza 4

PGR4

Kameo

Alan Wake

arkephonic

First of all, Alan Wake isn't exclusive. Secondly, Kameo is a solid game, but that was a 360 launch title, and it is painfully obvious that it is a 6 year old game. I own it and have played it, it is good but top 5? Lol.....

2 car racing games in your top 5?

I can't believe this is your list, and you say nothing on PS3 can touch it. This is straight up laughable. I can't tell if you're joking or not.

It is what it is. And American Nightmare is exclusive but yes, I forgot this one went to the PC. So I guess Trials or Gears 2 for my number 5 game.

The only reason Cows hold Uncharted as the gold standard of video games is because it looks pretty for a console game. It's a decent cover shooter at best and its story is an Indiana Jones ripoff. It's just a shallow experience with production values filling the rest.

You know what happens when a game doesn't sell well and it is critically acclaimed? It becomes a collector's item, and it appreciates in value greatly. Just look at Earthbound, it didn't sell all that well and it was critically acclaimed. Now the game sells for $200-$300 dollars.

As a game collector, I actually like buying critically acclaimed games that don't sell very well because they are good to hold on to.

You know, reviewers have a criteria, and they look at more than just graphics when reviewing a game. If graphics were the be all end all, games like Killzone 3 would have gotten a 10 everywhere.

Actually I have it on 360 as well. I really haven't noticed if the PS3 version plays better because of the d-pad. Sorry. That is not a lie. You could be right. But to be honest I have never had much of a problem with the d-pad. Here is the 360 games I have upstairs. I have about 4 or 5 more and my Kinect stuff downstairs but Rayman is up here. When I make my PS3-360 comparisons in my blog- It is no joke.

This makes no sense, Earthbound had limited copies, Sony spams out large quantities of games to buy which is one of the many reasons why they don;t like games not selling.

Lol, games are pressed/printed in waves. The number of waves are dependant on sales. Sony games won't print a ton of games if the game isn't selling.

Freaking Nintendo games, lol, they can sell a ton of copies and still have a high resale value, and still appreciate in value. Mario Kart 64 for example is one of the more pricey cartridges, and it sold 10+ million copies. I think it's due to the fact that Nintendo 1st party games never drop in price, ever. Nintendo 1st party games are good ones to collect.

No. All I have is Kinect Sports 1 and 2, Gunstringer, and Dance Central. I didn't bother with the second one. To be honest it has not been touched in a while. Thats why it is downstairs. I am hoping Microsoft pulls off a miracle and gives me a reason to use it again.

If Uncharted didn't have its lavish set pieces, animations, and voice acting it would be nothing remarkable. The shooting isn't nearly as good as Gears, the platforming is subpar compared to Assassin's Creed, and the story reeks of Hollywood ripoff. Everyone enamored by the series is simply blinded by the production values and presentation to realize that the actual game is "alright" at best. It's the same with MGS4.

Uncharted is a jack of all trades, but a master of none. That said, it does do a lot of things well, and from a complete package standpoint, it's deserving of its scores.

Assassin's Creed's platforming sucks, what are you talking about?

Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the best games of this generation.

That's called a herp derp decision. I don't believe that, do you have a link to prove that? That sounds completely unrealistic, why would anyone print 4 million copies from the start? Not even Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword would do something like that. I remember the first print for that game had the soundtrack included, and then they base the next print on the sales of that one.

And before someone starts with "All you have is shooters" that is because that is what I like. Shooters, Racing, Football, and old school games like 2D platformers (I have a crap ton of XBLA and PSN games). It is what it is. Just because I have no interesnt in JRPG's, Strategy, and lame Japanese crap you all pitch tents over like Godhand and Vanquish does not make me less of a gamer or not as game savy. Plus I spend most of my time with......da da da da my girlfriend. Need a pic of that as well?

PS3 fans are 2 groups. COD fans who chose the wrong system and leftovers from last gen that thought JRPGs and Gran Turismo would still be relevant this gen.

Didn't you read back when they announced shipping numbers? Also, Zelda doesn't fit in this situation, outside of some curious visitors, almost all Zelda games all sell basically almost the same number mostly because of the fact that the same fans buy the games. So Nintendo won;t ever exceed a certain sell point.

Normally, a game's first print is obviously the largest, because roughly 80% of console game lifetime sales are within the first month. 4 million though sounds like a complete mistake for Resistance 3. I'm sure the person who made that decision is fired now.

I wonder if the American version of Xenoblade Chronicles will ever be worth something considering it had a limited print.

Worst campaign I have ever played. And it is pretty obvious that you did not buy it because finding a game on it right now is a joke. You cows just do not have a game that attracts everyone except Uncharted. Finding a game in any of my PS3 exclusives online is a pain. Twisted Metal has a decent crowd right now but they play 1 or 2 rounds than quit. Honestly- PS3 exclusives just don't last online. Except Socom Confrontation.....LOL

No, I'm saying it's stupid to discredit the value of a game based on some random flea market find. For instance, my friend not too long ago bought a brand new, boxed, unopened NES console bundle with Super Mario Duck Hunt combo and Zapper for $5 dollars at a garage sale.

Does that mean that the resale value of a brand new, unopened NES console is $5 dollars?

I wouldn't know anything about having trouble finding games. The only games I play online are Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, and those have half a million players online at any given point in time.

I've beaten tons of other games with online components like Killzone, Resistance or whatever, but I never even try the online portion. Online portions don't interest me at all unless it's Battlefield or Call of Duty. I've been playing those two franchises online since their inceptions with BF1942 and the original CoD.

Interesting. You are playing your exclusives wrong. I play those games on the 360. ALL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE 360's!!!!! To be honest that is the only reason I still have a 360. That and Halo 4. However Fez and Trials Evo has took a great deal of my time and they are both something she digs as well.

That's called a herp derp decision. I don't believe that, do you have a link to prove that? That sounds completely unrealistic, why would anyone print 4 million copies from the start? Not even Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword would do something like that. I remember the first print for that game had the soundtrack included, and then they base the next print on the sales of that one.

arkephonic

Might not considering they are planning to put it in canada as well and canada will pretty much still be the ntsc-u version and you can easily just bring those copies down here in regards to Xenoblade.

[QUOTE="WarTornRuston"] Worst campaign I have ever played. And it is pretty obvious that you did not buy it because finding a game on it right now is a joke. Exclusives? CoD and BF?

I actually prefer them on PS3 because of the controller. I'm not good at all with the 360 controller. The analog sticks are much too stiff. I even have trouble racing with games like Forza. Even though I love Forza 4, I have a hard time playing it because of the analog sticks on the controller. With the DualShock 3 I have no problems with any games.

Well if you're basing it on some flea market find or some uninformed seller at a garage sale or Craigslist or something, then no **** sherlock. You'd also be able to find Earthbound for $5 dollars as well.

arkephonic

I'm sorry but you're the only one who mentioned Craigslist. How about going online shopping?Ebay, Amazon, gaming WEBSITES, ONLINE GAMING STORES. THe fact you said craigslist makes me worry because you would have to be a fool to think that place is reliable.

So you just ignored all the other things I posted?

Well then show me some links of where you can get Mario Kart 64 for $5 bucks, because I'm just not seeing it.

What I mean is the exclusives you have like Killzone you are only playing half the game, So are you sure they are as good as you claim? The problem with Sony right now is they have some good online games like Starhawk, Twisted Metal, and MAG but they put no advertising in it at all. As for racing games I actually got rid of Dirt 3 on the 360 because I prefer the Dual Shock for racing games as well. I think that is the only genre other than something like RPG's where it really doesn't matter) where I actually prefer Sony's controller.

If it's not Call of Duty or Battlefield, I'm not playing it online. I did play Resident Evil 5 online quite a bit, that was fun. The single player is more than enough for me, I don't need to play the multiplayer. I've never even tried Uncharted multiplayer before.

Posting an old graph from last year. It's a tad-bit outdated, but still reflects the obvious with respect to variety.

The Xbox 360 offers more genres to choose from compared to the PS3.

Man, I miss all the ownage graphs. I hope someone starts making them again next gen.

And by "someone" that probably leaves you, Stevo. GET TO WORK!

The guy's crazy. Either that or his taste is really poor.

What guy? I have posted pics of most of my 360 and PS3 collection on this thread. And I also said what types of games I like. Someones taste in games will always be different than someone elses. I am pretty sue if you look in my game catalog youwill not find bargain bin titles 3 monthd after release with the exception of Rayman.

Like I said. This forum does not understand the concept of different people like different things. What are your top 5 360 games?

Like I said. This forum does not understand the concept of different people like different things. What are your top 5 360 games?

Your taste in games and your game library really cut the PS3 short.

Demon's Souls for example, do you not like games like that? Demon's Souls is such a good game, one of the best I've ever played in my life quite honestly.

What about Metal Gear Solid 4, did you ever play through it or even give that one a chance?

If you like Rayman Origins enough to warrant 2 copies of it, you should most definitely at least try the LittleBigPlanet games.

Heavy Rain is unlike anything else out there, and is critically acclaimed. Definitely worth a playthrough.

God of War III is one of my favorite games of all time, do you not like hack n slash games?

You might not like baseball, but the MLB The Show games are the best there is for baseball.

Infamous 1 and 2 are excellent for open world super hero games. Not quite as good as the Batman series, but great nonetheless.

I mean, if all you like is shooting and racing, Xbox 360 would be the perfect console for you, lol. I myself like a wide variety of different genres.

Here's my top 5 Xbox 360 list.

1) Halo Reach

2) Gears of War 3

3) Forza 4

4) Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary

5) Tales of Vesperia

I never made the argument that the top tier 360 games spanned a large number of different genres, in fact, I've argued the opposite.

The top tier Xbox 360 games are shooting games and racing games.

LOL pretty much only multiplats.

themajormayor
This. Variety that matters comes on exclusives. Variety on multiplats wouldn't help me put a system over another since they both share the same games (unless the quality is way above like on PC). I want variety on experiences I can only play on that system so I can justify its purchase.
