The 360 Needs the PS3 to succeed

Yes, I have 1 post. I have been on these forums for a long time, decided to finally create an account.

All I see around SW is lemmings gloating and boasting about their superior sales, and the abyssmal PS3 sales. Maybe this is because 360 has such an inferior 09' lineup compared to PS3, or maybe it's because PS2 fanboys did the same during last gen... highly doubt that as most PS2 owners have now gotten a 360.

Anyways, my point is that without competition, if the PS3 fails and stops production, then the 360 has no real competition. Competition brings out the best in everybody.

Look at the Wii is an example. They have had possibly the worst year ever in gaming... and likely because they didnt need to. People are buying wii's either way, its the cool thing to do. software sales are terrible for the wii, if you compare them to the hardware sales.

Look at the PS3, as an example of why competition is good. They are in last place. So what did they do? They had the best 2008 lineup of all,, and their 2009 looks even better. Microsoft on the other hand isnt really producing exclusives, but instead buying out DLC or previous PS3 exclusives. A decent strategy, but all these games are still on PS3.

Just my 2 cents.

I am so sick of hearing that gaming needs Sony. When Sega left gaming was still fine and when Atari left gaming was fine. The only thing that would happen if Sony left is another company would join the war. I am not saying I want Sony to go but PS3 fans need to get a grip. most ps2 owners have gotten a 360??

theres around 125 million ps2 sold and 25 million 360 sold even if EVERY 360 owner had a ps2 that would still only be 1/5 the number of ps2 owners

so i think the word most is a little harsh because my guess is that only around 10 million of those 25 million had a ps2.

Wellcome to SW you're right competition is good thing, but Sony tried to derail the competition before the battle even started with comments about how the PS3 will be capable of 100 fps 4 D graphics and how the competitions isn't really a next gen console just some 2.5, Sony tried to Dreamcast the 360 with out even a battle (from what we all benefit from). Sony claimed next gen doesn't start untill they say it does and people are still wating. Sony needs to learn a lesson by my eyes, and they are.

Oh yeah MS isn't buying PS3 exclusive Devs are coming over on their own because of the user base and game sales.

competition in any business is good for the consumer and didnt the "battle" start with the original xbox and ps2 long before PS3 made comments about 100fps and 4d graphics

Each gen is a different battle. Other wise we would still be fighting over Sega VS Nintendo :P
