the 360 will finish last in the end

Wii has already outsold X360 and PS3 is catching up. For the year PS3 has outsold X360 by a million units worldwide and PS3 didn't have any great games until just recently. 2008 is really the launch of the PS3 with the big games coming out and Home. It's going to be ugly for X360. All I really wonder is how much longer until MS gives up and releases yet another console early.

Cows always use the future as ownage. Remeber the ending of last year they were saying how PS3 would dominate 07 with all its new I.P's and look how that turned out. Honestly if 08 does revive the PS3 its time for fans to realize Sony mite lose this gen.

It may have had something to do with the PS3 launching in a major territory this year.

With the 360's current sales versus the PS3's current sales, the 360 would have to be discontinued tomorrow and the PS3 would have to triple its sales for it to catch up by the time this generation is over.

im not a fanboy i actually own a 360 and simply dont see it being succesful now because

1.halo 3 was released too early and was dissapointing me being a big halo fan and bought the system to play it So you obviously have no more use for the 360. You need to aknowledge there are millions who aren't like you who bought the system for the games/bought it for Halo 3 and enjoy it.

2.all 360s will fail eventually even ms addmited it Cool. That's a very valid point, but not enough to kill the system's momentum/lead.

3.the ps3 was behind the 360 by 9 million at day one of the ps3 and now its just under 7m So all the PS3 needs to do is have two launches every year, and it'll catch up to the 360 in 3 and a half years! Assuming the 360 stops selling, of course.

4.its the dearest of them all with all the add-ons to match the ps3 Add-ons were released before the PS3, save the HD-DVD add-on. The only accessory that I know of that people purchase is the Wi-Fi.

5.its had its run of games and had nothing to compare against sony and nintendo in the future Mass Effect, Ninja Gaiden 2, Too Human, Left 4 Dead, Dead Island, Lost Odyssy say hello. Also, don't forget that the current 360 library doesn't just die once 2008 hits.

thats all i can think of no fanboyism to the max most of its fac and the rest is my opinion

Now would this research consist of basically saying that since the (hypothetically) install base for PS3 is 2 million and (insert game here) sold 200,000 it means 1 out of every 10 PS3 owners bought the game, whereas since the 360 install base is 8 million and (same game) sold 500,000 it means 1 out of every 16 360 owner bought the game, thus the game is selling better on PS3?

The attach rate is higher for multiplatform games on the PS3 because PS3 owners have nothing else to buy. They have less multiplats and fewer, less appealing exclusives. It would be astonishingly bad if the PS3 didn't have a higher attach rate on multiplats than the 360.

But as we all know, attach rates aren't everything. The 360 is a much higher attach rate on exclusives and has a much larger installed base, so therefore has far higher overall sales.

We only have the best online game with Warhawk, the best action games with Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and the best platformer with Ratchet and Clank. Arguably the best racing games with F1 and Motorstorm. And one of the top shooters with Resistance. Tell me how we don't have good exlusives???

My enjoyment of the 360 does not stem from how popular it is, it stems from how much fun I've had playing the games. If not another person in the world ever bought another one ever again I could not care less.

Let it be in last place that won't stop another one from coming out MS never got into it to win a console war(although I'm sure they feel that would be a nice bonus). They entered the console battle to get a foothold on digital distribution of the future media centric living room because they could in no way just hand that over to Sony without a fight.

The cool side effect of this was we got a great console that has the best games out currently(not counting PC).

The better question to ask yourself is if we assume that the life cycle of these nextgen systems will be 6 or so years and the 360 is aheadfor 3 of those 6 years but finishes last at the end of those 6 is it a failure? or is it equal with the system that sucked it up for the first 3 years? The way i see it if the wii keeps its pace going both the PS3 and 360 will be viewed as semi failures in the end. hmm ponder on that.Oni_Ookami

Well seeing as how no one likes to take in consideration of the fact that the PS3 came in a year later than the 360 and manage to do better in sales then the 360(1st year) I dont see why people shoulld take into consideration 360 leaving early, it would be the 360s falt for leaving eary as it is Sonys falt for coming in late. The only way to determine this is if you just take in total sales without caring you came/left early/late. Oh and yes you are right, if you look at it now the 360/PS3 are ALREADY semi failures compared to the Wii sales so Sony, Microsoft...one of you kick it into second gear!

Resistance didn't suck? Lol.. yeah.. okay. Felt like a pretty average shooter to me. With the next-gen around, anything average doesn't deserve any praise. That and Warhawk seemed really clunky while on foot, animation wise. Everything else was pretty nice.. but I really didn't dig the animations.
