I rarely use a controller on my PC.

Sounds like a lame use of a PC if all you want to do is play console games.

As opposed to what? Playing non demanding indie games?

How many games offer gamepad support on the PC? Other than the entry cost the keyboard/mouse was what really turned me off from it.

Generally any game on Xbox and even some PC exclusives like witcher 2 and star citizen.

Bad D-pad renders it useless for fighters and other arcade-type games that require good digital controls.

So DualShock2 with the converter is still best for those (or ideally an arcade stick).

Razer Onza looks kewl tho.

Thankfully my PS3 controller works just fine with my PC (using a third party program of course), so I don't have to buy a 360 controller.

When you think about it a PS3 controller is the best purchase a PC gamer can make, it comes with an extra game you can trade in or sell, and you can just hook it up to your PS3 and get it to work with motioninjoy.

It's fantastic. The little bit of extra height in the sticks is something you really miss when you go back to the standard 360 pad. The elongated triggers have pros and cons, but the second shoulder buttons are nice to have (I hate click-in stick buttons, so I use them for that).

I'll admit, even as a semi-rabid Xbox hater, the wireless Xbox 360 controller is the best choice for the PC as long as you fix that broken D-pad with the Cheez-it box fix. Also, there are lots of cool aftermarket options to make it look less Xbox-ish and match your preferences.
