The 4 best things about MGS4!

GamePro had a chance to play the latest version of MGS4 and had this to say:

The graphics: You thought Gears of War looked amazing? Think again. Metal Gear Solid 4 will blow you away with its ultra-detailed characters and intricate environments, painting some of the most gorgeous graphics seen this side of Crysis. In motion, the graphics look so realistic that your eyes begin to register the visuals as a movie rather than a game. From what we saw, MGS4 puts its 50GB Blu-ray disc to outstanding use.

The guns: The final game will feature over 70 weapons, from lethal assault rifles to silent tranquilizer guns, and you can outfit many of them with scopes, recoil grips, laser sights, flashlights, and more. Collecting enemy weapons will unlock new guns and "Drebin Points" for further customization.

The sound: MGS4 has some of the crispest, clearest sound effects we've ever heard -- the booming gunshots will make your hair stand on end! The Hollywood-s.t.y.l.e soundtrack is also predictably fantastic, and Snake's raspy voice sounds more desiccated than ever. GamePro editor Sid Shuman went so far as to say that MGS4 has "the best sound I've ever heard in a game."

The story: MGS4 is the darkest Metal Gear game by far: Snake is in terrible physical shape, and the world seems to rest on the brink of self-inflicted annihilation. Though the mood is dark, it's not depressing: you'll find plenty of characters to care about in this war-torn world.

No. They're comparing it to Gears because it's most logical comparison to make. Comparing MGS4/Gears to Uncharted is like comparing apples and oranges. The environments in Uncharted are bright, colorful, and vivid. The environments in Gears and MGS4 (at least the one that the previewers have seen) are bland, gritty, and decayed. Uncharted is still the best looking console game.

I'm not comparing Gears to Uncharted. I think they both look outstanding, and, in my opinion, it's silly to waste time attempting to determine which one looks "better." However, that being said, for the purposes of System Wars, it is generally accepted by many gaming sites that Uncharted is the best looking console game. I'm not speaking personally on this issue, I'm just reporting the general consensus. No BS, friend.

I'm not comparing Gears to Uncharted. I think they both look outstanding, and, in my opinion, it's silly to waste time attempting to determine which one looks "better." cool. none taken. i didnt mean to say anything bad about uncharted or anything, but i really did just find it funny that they were comparing it gears instead of uncharted. i guess they werent a part of that general consensus. although i do see what you mean about the color palette comparison.

The worst part of it is that it's only one game.

flawed logic. The are comparing exclusives from respective consoles. PS3 gamers dont care if MGS4 looks better than uncharted because its all on their system, but X360 gamers care if MGS4 looks better than Gears because that means the opposing system is producing better visuals.
